Summertime...WWTK wk59

Welcome to We Want to Know Wednesdays Q&A
Hosted by Mamarazzi and Crazymama

My FABULOUS co-host Crazymama is asking the questions this week here is what she sent me:

Let's talk summer. Ours is in full swing and the temps are rising (we got up to 114 on a few days already) So this weeks questions are about keeping cool and other summer delights.

(1) What is the usual summer high temperature where you live?
(2) How do you keep cool? Do you have central air?
(3) Do you swim? If you get in the water do you get your hair and make-up wet?
(4) What is your favorite summer look? As far as outfit , shoe choice and hairstyle? (Pics are rad or just describe it.) Do you wear less make-up in the summer?
(5) What is your favorite summer meal to make or eat, either way? (Score extra cool points for a recipe.)

I can't wait to hear if i'm the only one living in hades and the only fat girl swimming.

Oh my goodness I love Crazymama!! Here are MY answers, I cannot wait to hop around and visit everyone, I have REALLY missed you!!!

(1) What is the usual summer high temperature where you live?
The crazy high is only 97*. I say only because I lived in the Central Valley aka HELL for about 5 yrs and I am sure I would have never survived there without my AC and pool...it was in the 100s + most of the Summer into September/October. Here in my NEW town it rarely gets hot and if it does the coastal fog rolls in at night and cools everything down.

(2) How do you keep cool? Do you have central air?
We leave everything open all night and close it up in the morning and the house stays really cool. We have AC but rarely run it. We ran it for a couple hours the other day when it was 98* and I had a migraine so wasn't feeling like being hot AND grumpy.

(3) Do you swim? If you get in the water do you get your hair and make-up wet?
I never imagined I would miss having a pool so much. I use to spend all day floating in it just keeping cool. And YES, the hair and make-up got wet. (See Crazymama you are not the only fat girl swimming). I use to tell people that were welcome to swim in my pool AND "enjoy the view" cuz this mama doesn't hide her curves!

(4) What is your favorite summer look? As far as outfit , shoe choice and hairstyle?  Do you wear less make-up in the summer?
I am all about short skirts and tee shirts in the Summer... have fabulous legs! I rock the flip flop and I have been wearing my hair curly because it is too long to blow dry straight when it is hot. I need to cut it, I wanted to grow it out but every time it gets to this length it is Summer and I can't stand it so I chop it all off and feel sad. So far, i survive by throwing it up on my head. But really I need my hair around my face, so I hate wearing it up.

OH funny story, my sister Meg was here for 2 weeks and one day I wore a pony tail and she said, "I don't think I have ever seen you in a pony tail, it is kind of rocking my world right now" She did NOT say it looked cute so I am pretty sure it is as horrible as I think it is. But Meg says it like it is, even if it hurts feelings....so I didn't ask her to clarify.

I also try to get away with as little make-up as possible.

(5) What is your favorite summer meal to make or eat, either way?
I am all about watermelon, cantelope and cold grapes. Fruit is a must on hot days. I also love love love corn on the cob and grilled salmon. OH and tomatoes with fresh mozzarella, basil and balsamic vinegar...YUM!!

I know this isn't food but have y'all tried the sugar free mango Slurpee @ 7-eleven? Deeeelicious!!

I miss hot summers ….. 97° sounds so good to me right now!
And since I’m sitting in the office right now floating around in a pool sounds sooo good!

Hope you have a fabulous summer!

I forgot all about fruit; my family dominates grapes and peaches in summertime!

Fruit is a big hit here too--although we love to make smoothies and slushies out of them. Even the boys will eat those.

It's great to have you back! :)

We open our windows up at night when it gets really hot, then shut everything up during the day. It definitely is a great way to keep the house cooled down!

My oldest step son will eat a whole watermelon to himself, it is pretty funny. We always have to have watermelon on hand around here.

Happy Hump Day!

Ah, what I'd give to have my own pool...Luckily I've always had great friends and neighbours that let me use theirs!

I go curly on hot days, too. So much easier than blow drying and getting a sweat on when it's already hot!!

Welcome back :)

I could not live without AC. It doesn't cool off much at night here, so opening the house would just make it humid! LOL Wish we had a pool, but I'm probably the only one who wuold use it. My husband would jump in, swim to the other side, and get out. He's not one for sitting by the pool, but give me a good book, and yeah. Happy.

My hair does what it wants, I keep it short now. The funny thing is it is curly. Never used to be. Weird. I don't do make up very often either, and when I do, it's not much. I am not a skirt person. I have a tendency to sit with my knees up a lot, not good in a skirt. haha.

I love summer fruits. They are great. Of course what did I bring up??? Ice cream! :P

You rock the skirts, girl! :D

I can't imagine living in the Central Valley in the summer. I actually burned the soles of my feet as a kid, in a McDonald's parking lot in the Central Valley (was it Vacaville? Nardo? I can't remember, but it sucked)

I hope you get to go swimming a LOT this year. :D

LOL I had no idea I'd hurt your feelings! I wasn't talking about the quality of your ponytail, just the fact that your hair was pulled up at all....totally mind blowing. I'm glad you did it though, because it makes me hot just to look at people with long hair down on their necks when it is super hot. Blech. I like the ponytail look on you. Pigtails are my favorite though.
I need to get my booty to the pool, stat! I keep forgetting to have aaron go get our family pass with his POA ID card (it's $30 less that way) and then I regret it when we can't go to the pool. Soooo hot!!!

I miss sleeping with windows open. It "cooled off" to 79* last night. no really. gross huh? My AC is singing!

I miss having a pool in the summer so much! We have a pretty small backyard, but I've been begging my husband for an endless pool... one of those pools about the size of a big spa, so the kids and Hubs can cool off, but it has a current, so I can swim laps!

So glad you're back! And I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one going curly this summer! It is far too hot to use a dryer! And I love that you say you have fabulous legs (you do, of course), but I say the same thing!!
