Having a HAPPY teenager makes this mama very HAPPY. So my entire Happy List this week is about this fun evening...
J went to her first formal dance this past weekend. You remember Isaiah right? Big Daddy and I took them to dinner not that long ago to get to know this really great kid. It was actually J's suggestion that we go on a double date.
Friday night, the night of the Winter Formal, we picked up Isaiah and drove him and Jordan to Cool Hand Lukes (J's choice) for dinner before the dance.

Before dinner they exchanged flowers...Isaiah picked out a beautiful white rose wrist corsage for Jordan.

We sat across the restaraunt and left them alone to eat and enjoy their date...until Big Daddy decided he wanted to see what they ordered for dinner...LOL. Check out that rib eye J ordered, Daddy was proud.
After dinner there was a lot of time to kill before the dance was suppose to begin so J decided Baskin and Robbins was the perfect place for some dessert!

We stopped for a lot of picture opportunities, J wanted a lot to choose from so we took MANY!!

The kids kept wanting new and different poses but they were a mile apart in each picture, so I suggested this pose and said, "OK now go cheek to cheek" They started giggling, so I said (a little louder and more demanding) "I said CHEEK TO CHEEK!!" It was all over after that. Jordan and Isaiah would randomly growl "I SAID CHEEK TO CHEEK!!" over and over and crack themselves up. Isaiah noted that he was glad that we now had an inside joke we could laugh about for years to come. I thought that was sweet.

Of course her first date will always have been with her Daddy. He was a really good sport, and was genuinely excited that J was going to her first formal dance. But I imagine it is also hard to know that she will have more regular dates than Daddy/Daughter dates from this point forward.

I am so HAPPY that our little girl is growing into such a lovely young woman. I am HAPPY that she chose to wear a little jacket and cover herself up, knowing that "modest is hottest". I saw a lot of dresses that night and dresses all over blogs recently that made me SOOO HAPPY and thankful that J is not in a big hurry to grow up and show off her body. I am HAPPY that her self esteem comes from within, and that she has no idea how truly beautiful she ALSO is on the outside....something that makes her even prettier, in my opinion.

You are so lucky she's a smart, modest girl. I am horrified at some of the dresses I see young girls wearing now. She picked out a beautiful dress and she looks so pretty. Good job!
She is beautiful! Sounds like she had a wonderful time! And you are very lucky that she is so modest and enjoying her childhood!
What a cute post! :D Doesn't it make you feel great when our young ladies are smart and make great choices. J & I look adorable, and I am happy her first formal dance was such a success!

PS Thanks for hosting!
:D
Such a sweet post and I love all the pictures! She looks beautiful and Isaiah sounds wonderful. I love the part about the inside joke. So sweet! Also glad she actually ATE in front of a boy. I love that! Glad everything went well!
Ah, J looks so pretty. And Isaiah sounds like such a nice guy. Glad they had so much fun.
awwwww! she looks so pretty!! Oh high school formals! I miss having a reason to get all decked out in formal wear - Guess we will have to take more cruises =)
I love this. Her dress is perfection and Isaiah couldn't look any sweeter. (I second the modest is hottest. Go J!)
Your pictures do an awesome job of recording the night. I think it's so special that you two got to experience it with her.
What a sweet post and your daughter looks so pretty and grown up! They sure make a cute couple! Lots of changes are headed your way...this is coming from someone who's been there and is going through it, again, now with daughter #2.
She looks gorgeous! Jewel tones are definitely right for her, and I agree about the modesty thing- that's a very age-appropriate outfit (at an age where most dance outfits are more 'hooker-appropriate'). Good for her! And good for you guys, for raising such an amazing kid. :D
Modest IS hottest - she looks beautiful!
I'm glad she had such a fun time, and you guys did too!
Isn't it so reassuring and comforting to see our young people keeping true to their values in a world that is slowly erasing values from society?
she is so. beautiful.
I'm so glad she went with a nice guy!
Love her dress, and I love that she kept her hair simple and pretty.
So cool! I love her dress. Gorgeous.
What a delightful evening, I can see why it made your Happy List!
Jordan looks beautiful and it looks like she and Isaiah (love that name!) had such a wonderful time. How fun that you got to tag along and she is okay with that - you and Big Daddy have raised an incredible young lady for sure!
I am so glad you mentioned that about her modest choice of clothing because I was thinking it the whole time I looked at the pictures! How teenagers dress these days totally blows my mind! I appreciate her choice; she looks so beautiful! Her dude is adorable too!
Reading this makes me realize I am SO not ready to take my daughter on her first date! She is only 7 but I know it will be here before I know it! Last year at school, she received a teddy bear and a heart shaped box of chocolates from a boy. 6'2" Hubby was ready to go out and find this boy who was trying to woo his daughter! He isn't going to handle dating well!
Oh my goodness! Those are GREAT pictures! I hope the dance was half as fun as dinner and photos. She's so grown up now. Just beautiful!
aw what cute photos love the one of them feeding each other ice cream. she is abeautiful girl
awwwww! So sweet. You are so lucky. She chooses so smart! Great post.
Aww this is sooo sweet!!!! :-) I just love that picture of her and her dad.
What a beautiful daughter. I can see how this would make you HAPPY!!!
GORGEOUS! She looks just beautiful & I love her fun attitude. Looks like a great time.
Oh & I am SOOO going to yell I SAID CHEEK TO CHEEK next time I see you :)
Looks like a great great time was had, they sound too adorable for words when taking pictures!
