Friday Confessional

I Confess...

I had so much fun putting together my Autumn Swap package for my partner {leah} @ The Dog's A Boy Too.

Here is a little sneak peek...it is getting shipped out TODAY!!

Photobucket

Take a good look {leah} cuz I crammed that flat rate shipping box, it will arrive in one piece but it will be crumpled.

I went shopping with my Aunt Debi and this is her first swap ever.

I Confess...

Shopping and advising a "swap newbie" made me realize how much fun everyone else who participates in my swaps has.

I can sometimes get so caught up in the hostessing part that I forget that EVERYONE is having fun gathering and wrapping.

I Confess...

I really kind of love being a swap hostess.

It's a lot of work, but knowing that friendships are forming and packages of goodness are being shipped all over the USA because I organized it, gives me a little thrill.

I Confess...

We had a little bit of a health scare this week, that just about put me over the edge.

My Aunt Debi lives with us and has some health problems so she is highly medicated.

We were at my folks and something happened with her meds and she mixed up or doubled or even tripled her regular dosage.

This caused her to do really bizarre things and fall down and hallucinate.

It was really scary for a little bit there, I am soooo glad we were at my folk's so that my dad (who is a retired firefighter/EMT) could get it all straightened out.

I Confess...

I really LOVE my Aunt Debi and I am soooo glad that she is OK.

I Confess...

After a only few days at home, I am heading back over the hill to Hollister tomorrow so I can be there with Big Daddy who is staying with my folk's on his work week.

I cannot wait until we are moved there permanently, I am already not loving going back and forth, I just really miss Big Daddy when he isn't home.

BUT I am counting our blessings, so I will try to be patient.

So what are you confessing this week? Grab a button, add it to your post, and link that post up!
I promise, confessing will make you feel better!

the back and forth commute totally sucks, but you're right...it isn't permanant and it will all be so worth it when you move!

also, I love that you see the blessing in fonzo's employment! that's a pretty big deal considering we live in a time when so many people feel entitled to income regardless of work ethic.

I'm so glad she's ok! Hallucinations are frightening for everyone involved. :(

And thanks for hosting the Autumn Swap! This week has unexpectedly become insane at work, and shopping for gifts for my partner with this swap has been a sanity-saver. :D

You know, I quit blogging and was thinking of coming back to it because I always had alot of fun participating in all of the meme's like your Friday Confessions. I knew there were alot of rules, but I figured they were there for a reason, so I didn't let it get to me when I would read about your swaps and know that unless I was actively blogging for a year, I would be unable to participate. I figured fine, rules are rules, she has a reason. Now however I see that your rules are for your convenience and they only apply if you want them to. I'm sure you'll remove this comment and whine on your blog about how negative people are, but I will not be reading it. I will no longer be reading your blog at all, as a matter of fact, due to the fact that your rules are applicable only for those you decide must abide by them. I don't need that controlling vibe coming across my screen, so to speak. I will remove myself from your followers. Thanks for allowing me to get that off my chest.

Hi Jenn...

i am so sorry, i understand your confusion and appreciate you bringing this to my attention so that i can clear things up for you. I am emailing you directly, but i will also leave this in the comment section behind your comment (that i will not remove), just in case anyone else has the same issues and concerns.

first of all, i always allow a little wiggle room when it comes to my swaps, i ask people to send me a note if they want to participate but never have before. in fact i always open my swaps up to a few newbies (ie: people who have never swapped before). this last swap i allowed ONE brand new blogger, my Aunt who is living with me, to participate because i know for a fact that she put together a package and sent it off. i also made sure it was OK with the person i matched her with to be partnered with a new blogger.

the reason for the "year of active blogging rule" is because in the past, before i had all the rules, i have had people sign up, accept a package, not send one in return and delete their blog. i decided that someone who has been blogging for over a year, invested time in posting, established relationships and was less likely to abandon their blog..just to get a package.

i also allowed a few of fairly inactive bloggers to participate because they had swapped in my previous swaps and wanted to play. so i either matched them with another less active blogger or found a blogger who didn't mind being matched with them.

i also am more likely to allow someone to participate if they are a blogger who regularly adds to the conversation on my blog or participates in one of my linky parties. i feel through those two things a relationship is established, a level of trust if you will, and i am more willing to take a chance on a virtual stranger, who feels like less of one because of our blog friendship. let's face it unless we have met face to face we are all basically strangers in the blogging world...tho there are many bloggers who i interact with daily that i consider friends...having met heart to heart through blogging.

yes, i have lots of rules. but i promise every single rule that i have is there for a reason. either from a lesson learned in a previous swap or yes, because of my own convenience. hosting a swap is a lot of work. i also feel responsible for making sure that everyone who signs up for one of my swaps receives a fabulous package. after hosting many of these i have learned a lot about hosting. i have received emails, texts and comments on my blog thanking me for all of the rules after a blogger participated in a swap hosted by another blogger and not only never received a package but the hostess never followed through with that person's partner.

i have rules, yep...i do. but i also take every possible precaution to make sure that everyone is held accountable and if for some reason beyond my control someone is flaked on or just gets a craptastic package i have Swap Angels in place to put a package in the mail at a moments notice to help make up for it (i have also sent packages personally).

i hope this clears things up. i am sorry you were offended. i am also sorry that you will not be following my blog or participating in my link parties anymore. i love your blog and i have enjoyed your confessions. i hope you will reconsider, but i understand that not everyone "gets me" and i can't please ALL the people ALL of the time. i am OK with that. i am also human and i feel the majority is OK with my rules.

thank you for giving me the opportunity to clear things up.
