Friday Confessional

I Confess...

I am truly touched by the number of people who linked up for My Happy List this week. I know many of you are thrilled what it has moved to Tuesdays and I am beyond tickled by the overwhelming amount of HAPPY y'all linked up!

I Confess...

I was also so HAPPY to see so many bloggers posting their own versions of happy lists and things they are thankful for or smiling about all over the blogsphere. It seems like HAPPY is contagious, LOVE it!! See what y'all started? It's like a happy revolution, everyone wants to be a part of it!

I cannot wait to read everyone's happy lists this Tuesday!!

I Confess...

I worry that when I get really old that none of my friends or family will come to the old folks home and wax my face for me.

Seriously, I am scared that all of my "stray eyebrows" growing out of my chin are going to turn into quite a handsome goatee.

It makes me want to get it placed in a living will that someone should bus me to a salon every other week or something.

OR make my sister Meg, who is 11 yrs younger than me, sign some sort of promise that she will make it happen.

Because seriously...Bearded Lady is not something I want to see after my name.

I Confess...

Everyday I see my teenager my heart aches a little knowing her childhood is almost over. Then I look a little closer and see what a beautiful young woman she is becoming and my heart aches a little for different reasons.

I Confess...

There are days that I feel like I am missing everything.

Then I get a text message from her that says this:

J: Guess what?
Me: What? What? :)
J: one of my guy friends carried my textbook for me and told me I looked good today.
Me: ooooooh la la
J: Yup :) :) :)
Me: So do you liiiiiike him?
J: IDK yet, he is my friend, he is nice and he's a good Christian.
Me: Well it's fun to start as friends and see what happens no need to rush anything.
J: Yea I think so too.

THEN Big Daddy got a text from J that said:

J: Got your shotgun ready?
BD: Um...am I going to need it?
J: IDK he seems like a nice guy, we are just friends for now.
BD: good girl. You know I need to meet him before you go on a date, right?
J: yep, yep, all the boys who want to date me will know that.
BD: smart girl.

I Confess...

I just want to slow time down a little...I am not ready for a dating teenager, or more chin hairs.

Your daughters hair is so pretty! I couldn't imagine having a daughter, I think I would want to lock her up and never let her out lol!

She is very pretty!!!! And, darn I remember young love!! My dad, seriously used to clean his guns or sharpen his knives when me and my sisters brought home dates...it truly has scarred me!!! ;-) LOL

Man, I could swear you said it wasn't starting until Tuesday the 11th; I have no idea where I got that impression. Oh well; next week!

I have boys so my teenage years experience will be somewhat different. She is lovely though.

I worry about who's going to look after me when I get old too, and make sure those things are looked after!! I don't want to be a bearded lady either!!!

Have a great weekend :)

Wow I wish I could have had an awesome relationship with my parents like you guys have! It would have made life so much easier!! Yay for you guys! I hope I'm that open and awesome when my daughter is a teenager!!

Awww, those are great texts!! She's telling you stuff that I never would have told my parents! LOL
I'll come wax your chin. But I'm pretty sure you'll outlive me so I don't know who would do it after I went to the big chin waxer in the sky...

Miss Angie said...

Aww, she is so sweet and SO pretty! :)

Don't worry, when you're old you'll still be a famous blogger and one of your bloggy friends will come wax your face. Or at least send someone. haha

wrong sister. I'll sign a contract to bug amy to come wax your chin, though. That's why she keeps the tweezers in the van. The best light is in the school pick up line.
I'm turning 30 soon. Am I going to get chin hairs. Just give me purple koolaid now.

Stacie said...

Yep. All of my problems come down to those two things too: teenagers and chin hairs.

Happiness revolution! I love it. :D

I vote for making your sister sign an agreement. I have done a similar thing for my mom, that even if she's senile, I will come make sure her hair is professionally styled every week. :)

And for J...I got a little teary with your texts. I LOVE how close you three are, that she can share that (and that Big Daddy is prepared for the inevitable). She is definitely going to be a force to be reckoned with, and good for her (and for you guys) for instilling in her a sense of confidence at an early age!

I think it's awesome that your daughter is so open with you guys about her "love life". :) Whenever I liked someone when I was in high school I never wanted my parents to know.

Happy Friday!

My mom fears that no one will come and pluck her whiskers when she is old. She constantly makes me promise her that I will come and take care of her.

Sorry I am late to the party but I am prepping for my 7YOs bday party(sleepover). To top it off, I have a sinus and ear infection. But I made a doughnut cake and it looks yummy!

Linking for the first time. Your post is so sweet, a lot of the same ways I feel already and my babies are still basically babies! Love your blog :)

Oh, those teenage years scare me to death and my kids are still young.
But those conversations with your daughter were so sweet--maybe I'll even enjoy that time after all. :)

I think you'd make a lovely bearded lady. :)

Oh boy have fun with the teenage dating scene! I'm not looking forward to those days.....but I have a boy so hopefully it'll not be too bad.

Her love and trust in you and Big Daddy shows with her sharing what she did in her text to you both.

It is hard seeing your child all of a sudden grown up. It seems like it was just yesterday they were sooo small.

I am starting to think about the chin waxing myself.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

I love that your daughter is so open with you and your husband! I could never imagine having such a conversation with my mother-- i hope I'll be able to have one with my daughter someday!

Ha I had a serious conversation with my 5 year old nephew this Christmas! I told him Auntie loved him and needed him to promise me that he would put me in a nice nursing home and make sure someone plucked Auntie's chin hairs once a week or so!

Super rad there was success on happy Tuesday.

I totally wanted to confess yesterday but never found the time. :(

She's looking all grown up and lovely. Sigh.

Can you get laser hair removal for your strays?

Catherine said...

Sounds like you have an awesome relationship with your daughter. You've both done things right. Communication is everything. Also, FYI ... no need to worry ... many a retirement home has an in-house salon these days. (I should know ... it saved me from having to pluck my late MIL's chin hairs ... shudder.)
