This week's Blogging 101 Tip is brought to us by Connie@The Young and Relentless. She is going to teach us how to organize the blogs you read using Google Reader:
I write three blogs and I follow 200 blogs.
You are probably wondering how I manage to do this and still take care of my two children, clean my apartment, make love to my husband and have time to watch all of the Real Housewives shows.
The answer is Google Reader and blog organization!
I have my subscriptions organized into categories.
A+ blogs that I read daily and comment on religiously.
B blogs that I read almost everyday...but only comment when I have time.
Crafts my favorite craft bloggers who inspire me.
Fitness blogs that I read and comment on.
Denver local bloggers that I know.
Home blogs that improve my home life like Simple Mom and The Inspired Room
Preschool blogs that feature crafts and learning for my kiddos.
Weekly blogs that I read on the weekends.
The beauty in this system is that if I take too many days off from reading blogs...I can mark as read a category...like crafts or preschool, and keep other’s that I’d really like to get to, like A+. This way, my reader is never out of control and I still read the important posts that I don’t want to miss.
After you subscribe to a blog. Go to Feed Settings at the top and select a new folder, name it whatever you want.
Another handy feature of Google Reader....is that you can change the tags on a post and it will store them for you to reference later. I like to save fun ideas like this (if I haven’t saved them on Pinterest) so that I know where I found that cool craft, book or recipe that I want to try.
Being a good blogger and blog commenter starts with organization!
GREAT Tip Connie, thanks so much. I am off to organize my Google Reader...your blog is most def in my A+ file!!

Hi Mama!
I'm totally wondering where Connie has me. :) Thanks for the tips - I tried creating categories for my blogs and I found that when I moved a blog into a folder it STILL stayed on a list outside the folder too meaning I had to mark as read twice. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? :)
wow, great advice, blogging can sometimes be overwhelming!
Great tips! Sometimes it's difficult to read every blog every day! Especially if I want to comment :)
