Hey everyone, I am soooo excited about this new linky party.
We Want to Know Wednesday Q&A is hosted by:
The theme of the Q&A this week is Friendship:
{1} Do you make friends easily?
{2} What 3 qualities are a must in a friend?
{3} What makes you a good friend?
{4} Have you ever met a bloggy friend in real life?
Yes? tell us about your meet up. No? who would you love to meet?
{5} Who is your best friend? Tell us about them.
Here are MY answers, I hope you take a minute to read them:
{1} Do you make friends easily?
I use to. When we moved here almost 6 yrs ago, I was not worried about making new friends. I knew I would make friends from church, from J's school and her friends parents and I have never really been shy. I was sooooo surprised when after almost a year of living here I had yet to make a real connection with people. 6 yrs later I have come to the conclusion this is just a really strange area, people aren't interested in knowing their neighbor and I have yet to make any close friends. You know, people who you double date with, call to meet for lunch etc. I also realized finally that it isn't me, it is totally them. I was worried about that for a long time.
{2} What 3 qualities are a must in a friend?
HUMOR...seriously if you can't joke around and have a good laugh, we won't get along.
TRUST...don't lie to me, I don't like that.
FLEXIBILITY...my family is always gonna come first, it's better if your's does too. Life happens.
{3} What makes you a good friend?
I am a lot of fun to be around. I am understanding, supportive, honest and loyal. I am also willing to put a little effort into maintaining friendships.
{4} Have you ever met a bloggy friend in real life?
Yes? tell us about your meet up. No? who would you love to meet?
YES...and I am super sad that she doesn't blog anymore. Her name is Alison You can read about our first meet up AND our second one HERE. We haven't seen each other since my birthday last year, but we maintain a friendship via Facebook and occasional face to face visits, as she lives close to my in laws, but far away from me.
Here is Alison and I on our first visit, we met up at a Starbucks and chatted for HOURS
Since our girls are the same age there was lots to talk about she is also the first friend Big Daddy and I talked with about adoption. She shares the adoption journey of both her kids on her blog.

Here we are with our girls, they were penpals for a while before we were able to get them together for a visit...and of course the clicked. See more HERE!

AND I am super excited about an upcoming bloggy meet up with my friends MiMi @ Living in France and Myya @ MyyaSays . They are throwing their kids in the car and coming to spend a little over a week with me at my house. It is the MiMyMa Summer retreat MMXI (2011...roman numerals make it more badass)! We are already planning all of the fun adventures we are going to go on AND the late nights spent laughing AND days spent floating in the pool laughing. I am soooo excited and it is like 9 weeks away!! WOOT!!
Does anyone else want to book a Summer stay at the Dandelion Wishes B&B?
OH...AND I am making plans to have lunch with Jaclynn @ I Was Never The Girl Next Door very soon!!
There are VERY few blogger who are local to me, but I don't mind a little travel to meet a blog friend!
Do you live close to me? Wanna meet up?
{5} Who is your best friend? Tell us about them.
Big Daddy is my VERY best friend. I know that sounds weird, but truly, there is no one I would rather spend time with than him. He makes me laugh like no one else on earth. I swear, we laugh All. The. Time. AND he is super handsome, a best friend who is nice to look at is a bonus.
Then there are my sisters Amy and Meg. Sisters who are are also best friends = AWESOME! We ALWAYS have fun when we are together. I would also consider my mom one of my best friends, I love that we get to spend so much time together now that she is retired (she is also really fun, see how she stuck her face in the booth for one of the photos?).
I am 11 yrs older than Meg and moved out of the house when she was like 8. Our friendship grew once we were both married adults and I hired her to teach at a preschool I was developing curriculum for. She is who I want to be when I grow up, seriously.
So there you have it, my answers...now I want to see your's.

This is my first link-up with you after reading your great post last week - yay!! I wish I could get to your place of understanding that it's them, not you. I'm still afraid it's me.
I also thought your comment on flexibility was really interesting, because someone used the exact same wording to me in defending why she stood me up. Except it wasn't a family crisis. She was just hanging out with her son and didn't feel like coming over. Now that I have my daughter, I totally agree with you about her coming first...but I also know how that can be used as an excuse to behave badly. It's a fine line.
We have the same issue on making friends in our towns. But in my defense, this town is whack. You have to be very careful who you befriend. It could be a swinger or a meth head. And I don't want that.
I liked seeing all your pictures! It's one of my favorite things about reading blogs. It's like snooping into other peoples lives WITH permission.
I wish I had a sister or two. I ended up with a brother but a sister would have added a nice dynamic.
I kind of wish my sister and I were best friends but since she is 6 years younger, we didn't really start to get to know each other until she was maybe 16. By then, I had already gone to college. But we talk fairly regularly now and she's a bigger part of my life now that I have kids.
Good new meme!
What a great topic to reflect on!!
I think you & I have had similar situations making friends- but you totally have your priorities correcting in listing your hubby as your best friend.
And I am jealous of the relationship you have with your sisters!! How wonderful!!!
LOVE BLOGGY MEET UPS!! and would LOVE a stay at the B & B!!!
~Becca
I love that your so close to your sisters! We are a tight family but I'm the only goofy one, maybe because I'm so much younger than them, who knows. They are always so serious!
Making friends can be tricky, especially in a small town. People in my town are very rooted, they've all lived her their whole lives, it's hard to get "in". But really all you need is one person who you can really count on, the rest is just gravy!
The challenge to making friends in my town is that it is a college town. You can make a friend, but chances are they will be leaving in 3-5 years. Making lasting friends is a challenge.
I would love to take you up on the Mamarazzi B&B. Nick so wants to go to California. Maybe we can work that out some time.
My hubby is my best friend too. How lucky to be married to your best friend.
I had the same problem when I moved around... meeting new people. It's really hard to get into a locked clique. I have never understood it at all. But I've always had a hard time with women. Men no problem but women are hard to get to know.
I'm hoping to "meet" new people by linking up.
Now who would not want to be friends with YOU??? I understand what you mean though. You have some great people in your life, so that should make up for the lack of choices.
This was fun...one suggestion, could we maybe get the questions before Wednesday like we get the topic for the vlogs beforehand? It would make it much easier for me to get my post together...just a suggestion, thanks!
I had a little bit of trouble making friends in Utah. I finally put an ad in the paper....kind of!
The MyyaMimi Retreat sounds awesome!
The friend situation you mentioned isn't an uncommon one, in my opinion. We live in such a mobile society, anymore, and everyone sesms to be on the GO constantly...not really taking the time for things that matter. Our neighborhood is very large, over 2,500 homes. Plus, we live on a busy road with empty nesters and folks who just don't get outside much, so it makes it a little hard to socialize with them.
I think your plans for this summer with your bloggy pals sounds like a hoot and a half!
It is awesome you are close to your sisters.
I would love to meet MiMi! She is super awesome.
I love the new linky!
You are so right about having your hubby as your best friend, mine is too, and like you said, doesnt hurt that they are easy to look at, lol
Maybe one day I will have your wiseness, about knowing it is them not me, being the reason
Good questions
That last photobooth picture of the three of you, hahahaha I love it.
Big Daddy always looks so happy - you guys are so sweet. :)
I find it hard to believe that you had a hard time finding friends, but I think you're right in what you said that people just aren't interested in knowing who lives near them or who their kids go to school with or really have an interest in anyone other than themselves. It's kind of sad that we've lost that "neighborhood" mentality that was so popular 20-30 years ago.
I can relate to a lot of your answers..you seem like you'd be the best friend and I've said it before but a good time I'm sure! :) I feel like a ton of bloggers live on the West coast..I'm over here on the East side! Way too far for me right now! BOO First Wed. Linky post a success!
I think your post is great!! Its all YOU... after reading some of the link's added, I feel like a total nerd b/c HOW COULD I FORGET that humor is a huge quality I look for in a friend! Its too late for a repost but darn!
Thanks for including me.. and dealing with my mundane questions and quirks!
Th best blogging friend that I met in real life introduced me to Iron Cupcake which has been my favorite zen project:-)
my sister is my best friend. she's 8 years older than me and we didn't like each other until i was a teenager.
you are going to have so much fun on your mimyma vacay.
Their loss. You're awesome.
(Love this, by the way.)
PS You loving and being friends with your sisters gives me copious amounts of hope for my littles. Thanks for sharing those adorable pictures!
First, BD is a stud muffin and you are so lucky to have found someone to laugh with.
Second, Woot Woot to sister BFFs. Because we moved around so much, mine are the only ones who have known me as long as I've known me and still love me despite my, um, slight imperfections.
And finally, over here we have totally whacked people and it took me five years to finally make friends that actually want to spend time with me. I was convinced I stunk, but no, I checked.
At least you have all of your fans!!
Isn't it great being married to your best friend? And love the pics of you and your sisters!
I'm so excited for these WWTK's! Really, great idea!
We have a lot of the same requests for things in a friend. But I have a feeling that's gonna be a common thing!
This was so much fun - thanks for creating another great linkup. You get to meet Myya?! *jealous* I have yet to hook up with any bloggers IRL (other than my bestie but we were friends before the whole blogging thing). Those pics of you and your sister are awesome. Just awesome.
it's totally them. End of story.
Just looking at those photo booth pictures has me crying with laughter. We are so freaking funny. ...and maybe a little arrogant, since I think we know how freaking funny we are.
I miss you guys. I can't WAIT to get together and play. We need to plan a "girls adventure night". We could go camping (read: get a hotel on the beach and some late night takeout) Someplace where we can people watch. Cuz there's no one I'd rather people watch then with the women in our family. 100% guaranteed entertainment.

I love the fact that your family is counted among your best friends...especially Big Daddy...that is just the cutest thing ever! I adore the pics of you and your sisters...the love is as obvious as the fun! And I can't believe that you have trouble making friends no matter WHERE you live...that must be one freaky place, maybe you should create a "blogtown" someplace where only fun bloggy people come to live :). I linked up (I think...hope I did it right...if not, let me know-PULEEZE- and I'll edit...I answered the questions anyway!)
I need a sister! :(
I LOVE the pics! You and Meg are adorable!!
You're right, it's nice that your BFF is a handsome guy. Friends with benefits...now, that's what I'm talkin' about. ;)
Loved reading this!
I absolutely relate to you on the making friends in the area thing. I spent 8 years somewhere and never made any real connections. I was pretty sure something was wrong with me...then I realized it was THEM not ME. Thank goodness. Now I know I'm just as cool as I thought I was.
Enjoy your blog bunches.
New Follower, First time commenting :)
This is a spectacular Q&A ... I really do love it! What a great topic to start with too! I think this is a perfect one for me to jump into!
For some reason, I thought you would've met a ton more bloggers! You know, being Mamarazzi and all! So funny, today I was thinking of taking a road trip across the US and meeting all the wonderful bloggers I know! I've got some time on my hands now!
Love the pictures you've added - so fun!!
Loved your post!
I agree, it's hard when you move around a lot to make and hold onto friendships. And sometimes, like when I lived in Vegas, people are just strange and don't really know how to connect to become friends. Weird isn't it?
I am so glad that Big Daddy is your best friend. You see that in movies (like When Harry Met Sally), and it seems like such a great idea to marry your BF, but it doesn't feel possible until you see other people who have that sort of friendship and partnership with their spouse. Yay! That's inspiring. :)
I am super jealous that you get to hang out with MiMi (and vice versa!)! I'm going to have to follow Myya. Odds are, if you two like her, I'll like her.
I'm off to write my post!
Ok
i've been meaning to message you. I'm coming sometime soon to san fransico with the hubs. To meet you! I'll have to bring the baby with me. Let me know if we can hook something up.
I super love, love, LOVED reading this post. I love how important your family is to you. And being friends with your husband is such a great blessing, isn't it?
You are going to have the most fun with MiMs and Myya. I am super JEAL.
I'm sorry you don't live in an area of friendly people. I feel so blessed to live in the best ward/neighborhood on earth. Truly.
Um, maybe you should move here? We have girls nights regularly, and all our kids have fun together...you should totally do it!
Mamarazzi, I enjoyed reading all of your answers to the friendship questions. I agree with the qualities a friend should have. Good list! Also, you and your best friend are the *cutest* couple!!! I wish I could link-up this week, but I am up to my eyeballs in Greek Festival prep that's tomorrow!!! I am working on Shelley's Aphrodite costume and baking cookies. This is another fun linky party!!! :D
xoxoxo,
Ricki Jill
Awwwwww...your list and the part about your sissies is awesome.
Guess what. My town is like your town.
Part of it though is that I would be one of the "them" people. HAHAHA!
Not with YOU, but with my jackwad neighbors.
This was so.much.fun! Yay!
Your family is beautiful! I love the big orange bow your sister has. I totally want one! Not that I could pull it off, but that's not the point ;)
Can't wait to see what's in store for next week!
Awwww, love this and how you included you mom, sisters and hubby in there! So sweet!
totally linked up!!
You must live in North Carolina huh? Lol I've lived here for 6 years (kawinkadink? I think not) and I've made one friend. I can't call her my best friend, but she's a good friend. People here are not like Cajun people at all. Cajun people have never met an enemy lol!
First..love this meme!
I also named my Mr. as my BFF. I assumed everyone would roll their eyes...so I'm glad to see I'm in good company!
Happy Hump Day!
STILL love your blog! You are amazing! What a fun linky! :)
So jealous about your sisters! I have only brothers!
I love that Big Daddy is your BFF...that is SO sweet! This was fun to put together...I wish I had more time to go in depth and explain my friends...but it is late and I am going to be living it up this weekend! But I had to play :)
Happy Wednesday Friend!
:-( I'm so sorry it's hard to make friends in your town. I'm finding it a bit hard to do too. Mostly because everyone in my town is OLD or they are hermits that hid in their houses. I need to get out and actually try meeting people. I'm so grateful for M's job or else I'd never meet a soul.
M and I laugh all the time too. Isn't it awesome? There really is nothing better than having someone around that constantly cracks you up.
My town is like yours too...and the funny thing is that I have lived here since I was FIVE!! But all the people I grew up with as kids moved away to the "big city". The only exception is my bff...we went to school together but were more like acquaintances then. Became bffs as adults and now she is moving to TX in June....so sad!
I would love to crash your bloggy meet up since you three are some of my bloggy besties! But darn if I dont have the cashola!
Thanks for giving me a great topic to write on! I've been neglecting my public blog for far too long and this Q&A was a great excuse to write up a post for it.
PS Your sisters are awe.some. Lucky you to have them as bffs!
I love that your sister is one of your best friends, mine too!
Regarding no. 1: I have once lived in an area just like you described so I know it isn't you!
Lovely pictures, btw!
Thanks for the great WWTKW topic, I really enjoyed writing about it and reading everyone else's! (Hopefully I was successful in linking up this time - such a newbie at this!!)
I'm going to be 100% honest here (eek!) I wonder sometimes if I've forgotten how to be a friend since I got married ... I think I used to have a pretty big circle of friends but now I don't have the super tight ones. Maybe it's a given once marriage/kids set in? I'm not sure ... but I do miss the bestie girlfriend who I can talk to all the time and stuff...
You and I are similarly wired when it comes to what we want in a friendship and what kind of friend we want to be to others. And I love that Big Daddy is your best friend. Which is how it should be!
Your MMXI sounds fun!
Aaaagghhh, I totally forgot you were doing this Q & A meme this week! It's spring break though so I know you'll cut me some slack. I'm just trying to get through the next few days with my sanity intact.
I'll hook up next week!
I'm so envious of how close you are with your sisters! My sister and I are 17 months apart but we are so different, we might as well not even be related. And what's worse is that she lives literally 5 minutes from me but we hardly see one another because our lives are so busy. Although we are taking our kids to Boston this summer for a family get together and I'm honestly scared that the 6 hours on the plane together on the way over there is going to do me in!
I swore I left a comment yesterday... man my brain is not working.
Anyways...
Love your things that are a must in a friend!
Awesome that you got to meet Alison but even more awesome that you get to meet me & Mimi. YAY!!! Now that we have dates set, I cannot CANNOT wait for them to come!!! Whoo-hooo!!!
Love that BD is your best friend, TOTALLY the way it should be!!! :)
I adore the pics of you & your sisters (and the peek-in of your mama). Sisters are definitely the best, I am thankful for mine every second of every day - boy I sure can't wait till my girls are like that LOL.
yay! I'm back :)
