Talkin' about it Tuesday

1. Any vacations you are looking forward to this summer?
No big plans as of yet. We do have our nephews every Summer for a week of Camp Vasquez. Big Daddy plans lots of fun adventures when they are here and we really look forward to it every year..

2. What is your favorite article of summer clothing (shoes are included)?
Flip Flops...I have a million of them. at least. I also fell in love with Maxi Dresses last Summer and I am sooo happy they are still in fashion this year. Though I will always love a short skirt and a tee shirt...I have great legs.

3. What is your favorite summer drink (alcoholic or non)?
Easy. Big delicious Diet Pepsi, from a fountain, over ice balls, in a cup with a lid and a straw. YUM! It's a favorite year round. Oh I also like some of the Crystal Light Slurpees from 7-11.

4. Do you tan or burn?
Tan, but I tend to be the sunscreen queen, I hate what the sun does to my skin.

5. Any goals you are working toward this summer?
Make teenager spend more time with us. Her new social life that doesn't include her daddy is hard for him.

6. What is your favorite summertime food?
STRAWBERRIES!!! So good. I also love peaches and apricots oh and watermelon YUM!

7. What song most says “summer” to you?
Billy Currington's "Good Directions". The first Summer we lived in this house Big Daddy was still living in Hollister with my folks and only home on his weekends. So I was spending a lot of time alone, floating in the pool, painting rooms, unpacking boxes...and the radio was on ALL. The. Time. Tuned to the local country station. That song was totally overplayed and now whenever i think about summer it comes to mind.

8. Any home improvement goals planned for this summer?
Well...we are hoping that a new fence around the pool and that kitchen remodel we have been talking about happens.

9. What is one thing you hate to see at the beach?
Litter. It really upsets me. (someone listed "large people in small bathing suits" So, I am a chubby girl, what am I suppose to wear to the beach? An evening gown? Wow, is all I can say)

10. Did you ever go to a summer camp?
I went to Girl's Camp at Camp Richie every Summer from age 12-18. Great memories, beautiful area, and Spiritually uplifting.

I love maxi dresses as well. Very forgiving! I live in flip flops in the summer. Have you tried yellow box flip flops? they are cute and so comfortable!

and the large people in bathing suits comment... unbelievable.

okay ... so who is this 'large people in bathing suits ...' person! I will take them out, let me tell you!! just kidding of course ... well, you know!

as you wrote about the song 'good directions' - I may or may not have started singing!

Ok, I thought I was the only one that did Girls Camp from 12-18. I actually turned 18 my last year there. I went to Camp Zarahemla! Love it!! I really want to take my kids camping there this summer!

Um. Seriously? They don't wanna see a heavy person in a bathing suit?
Well. I'm guessing their asses would rather see THAT than see a fat person with an uzi!

Ugh. Sorry. Can you tell that's a hot button for me? ;)

I think I visited that blog today with the pic that you're talking about. RUDE.

Your summertime food is making me hungry! I LOVE me some fresh fruit!

I so can not wait for flip flops either! I love me some painted toes with slip ons!

Just to try and make a positive out of a negative..maybe whoever mentioned the 'big girls in bathing suits' meant that they wear ill-fitting suits. I have seen some really BIG women (and you are SO NOT BIG) in bikinis. I am considered 'thin' but even I don't wear a bikini! Just sayin!

I love strawberries too, but I tend to want to pile cool whip on them...YUMMO!!

Fun! I love my flip flops too! But I'm thinking it's time for a new pair (or 10...). Guess I need a trip (or 10) to Old Navy! :)

Flip flops are a must but you have to have a pedicure to go with them!

I just bought a ton of fresh fruit today and sat outside while doing my homework for Bible study...I can feel summer, its on its way!

That was a very rude and hurtful comment, some people just don't think before they speak/type! I guess there are mean girls at any age!

mmm cool whip. Uh I mean, Cool whip with a couple strawberries.

or just the cool whip. Yum. Summer.

I hope you get a fence around your pool, too!

Ahhh I love flip flops. I wear them way too long for Oregon standards. Ehhh whatever, I'll do what I want!
Strawberries... YUM!!! My brother in law always delivers a flat to me, he doesn't grow them but his buddy does & when you cut into them they are RED all the way through... no white at all. Have you ever noticed that? SOOO Good! I love all berries. Marionberries are sooo good. Have you ever had those? BIL farm grows them & Raspberries, some of which even make it into OceanSpray. Cool right!

I'm a new follower because your blog looks interesting, informative & just plain FUN! I live in the desert & find that maxi dresses or skirts are usually cooler than shorts as long as they are roomy. Also love flip-flops, but opt for sandals for a dressier look. lol!!!

The only thing that we are looking forward to this year is a family reunion in Ohio. Other than that, we have to work on our house.

I am definitely with you on the flip flops and strawberries! I really hope we can find the time to get away for a vacation this summer...we all need it!

Good thing you listed watermelon as one of your favorite summer fruits, or we may not have been friends anymore...:)

I hope you get to redo your kitchen! Is it little stuff or a MAJOR overhaul???

I totally agree about the litter. However, I would also say that any man in a speedo is also at the top of my list of "things I hate to see at the beach". Some things you just can't unsee, ya know?

Once we are closer to home and have some property I'm totally doing a 'cousin's camp' every year.

I love my flip flops!!! I have to get new ones this year and mine are worn out and breaking.

For me it's not so much people being in bathing suits, it's the itty bitty ones that people wear. I come to the beach to play and be in the sun. I do realize that is why most people come and they are going to be in bathing suits.... however, I don't want to see any extra or have to have an anatomy lesson with the boys :)

I really miss summer camp. Good memories.

Now you have me craving strawberries...and summer.

I do not tan. I just burn, burn, peel, and burn. So, I have to wear sunscreen. I'm a whitie...a lot like my favorite people, the Cullens, perhaps you've heard of them?? ;)

Loved reading your answers!

Yup I live in flip flops during the summer but I don't have a million I just have one pair that is 5 years old :P.

Why is the most summer song I think of the Thong Song?

Dude, what is it about fountain drinks that makes them so much better?

I love Diet Coke, but I have to have it in a 64oz cup, poured from the fountain.

Love.

I'm so ready for summer. Looking forward to eating lots of fresh fruit and wearing maxi dresses, too.

Fun answers. Love the reply about the beach.

Maybe the big people in small suits was for hairy backed old fat men sporting a grape smuggler?

Although I agree.

I dislike seeing skinny bitches with super fake boobs.

Crazymamaof6 said...

Oh yeah and I do flip flops year round. Love maxi dresses and fruit and summer tans. It's tanning weather right now here.

I love the beach. Litter at the beach is nasty. I have always battled with my weight. Buying a bathing suit is the worst(actually feels like torture) Plus I am glaringly white. haha.
