It Happened...Here Is Proof!

Remember my post about the Link Party?

I know I just made the post a few minutes ago, but you know bloggy time...it passes so quickly you may have missed it.

Well this is my first It Happened Post.

It happened WAY BACK in October...2009.

I know LAST YEAR..we are going waaaaaay back here...

Photobucket

We spent the afternoon at one of our favorite local picnic spots. We love going there and sitting inside of the large willow trees and basking in the quiet beauty of this little bit of goodness in the country.

Since it was pumpkin season the farm was offering a haunted tunnel, pumpkins, games and horse rides.

We were surprised when J wanted a turn on one of the horses. I think she thought telling them she was an experienced rider would allow her to take the horse off on her own for the ride around the farm. NOPE. The look on her face as the guy was telling her he would be walking her horse was awesome. I really don't know why she thought it would be fun, but she picked her horse "Thunder" and off she and the little man went for the ride in a circle around the farm.
We know that was probably the last year Jordan will want to go to the pumpkin patch, she is growing up so fast. So I wanted to make sure to get this posted before she is off to college. *sigh* Yes, I know she is only 14, but still. She will always be Daddy's little girl...whether she likes it or not.

Introducing A Link Party!!

Ever feel like it's too late to post something? It happened in December and now it's Spring, who is going to be interested? All the "good" mommy bloggers posted their Holiday goodness the day after the holiday....right? WRONG!!

Bloggy time is a funny thing. Life happens fast, sometimes way too fast, and because of that we often find ourselves behind. I have seen many bloggy friends just stop blogging all together, too much pressure? Not enough time? Hmmm I wonder.

I have had my fair share of bloggy breaks, just...ya know...living my life. I know I am not alone, I can't be.

So I created a link party...woo hoo, everything fun has the word party in it right? I am not sure what day I want to host it, but I do want to have the party weekly..so VOTE on my poll on my sidebar...please.

So go ahead and post something that feels like "old news", but only happened a year, month, week, day or minute ago.

You can grab my cute button below and link up ANY link you want. Whether it just happened yesterday or not.

(insert clever title here)

I feel like I am never going to get caught up on blogging. Every now and then I will do a quick post with pictures that are in my camera waiting to be shared. Sounds like a good idea right? Blog time is totally different than real time, I don't know how that is possible but it is. Surely I am not alone, right? So my wheels are turning for a weekly post from "the past" I will even make a cute button so you can play and link up...fun right? Yep, I am cool like that.

So here is the ONE picture we have from our weekend away in Monterey. Yep, one picture. Why do we never take the camera out unless the kid is with us? Weird. Sorry it's not great, it is what it is and I am who I am. My hair is flat, the sun is in our eyes and a stranger is taking our picture...I always feel funny smiling for strangers...am I alone?

It was a beautiful weekend...perfect weather, lovely wedding on the beach and time with my husband...happily ever after indeed!

of course the camera came out once we got to Hollister to see my niece and nephews...here is Brock, torturing his favorite Auntie. He is a ninja, and he has some stealthy moves.
here is some video of Brock "going ninja on Uncle Paul"...hilarious...

video

Big Daddy decided he wanted to learn how to skateboard. Our nephews were happy to show him some moves. Garrett wisely offered a helmet and some pads for his knees and elbows. Big Daddy refused...bad idea. Zachary showed him how to do an ollie (is that how you spell it?) Big Daddy tried it...epic fail. (clickety the pic to biggefy)

here is some video of the kids and Uncle Paul/Big Daddy skateboarding...good stuff.

I could spend all day in the sunshine soaking up the goodness of these kids. In fact we went back the following weekend. This time we brought Jordan with us. It was great to have so much time with my family. My folks are home from their mission now and we got to spend a lot of time basking in their awesomeness. I can't wait to get back over the hill for more!!

Lastly a video that highlights a poor parenting moment on my part. Hey, it happens. I was clearly not paying attention and towards the end you see someone get shoved/fall off their bike. I didn't "see" it until I was watching this video but I did "hear" it and my response to the screaming was, "I hope you are being kind to each other" (FAIL! Oh well). Clearly kindness was not flowing that sunny afternoon. oooops...

I DID pick up some germies while I was there. I have had a sore throat and congestion for a few days...lots of sleep for me. My mom knew this might happen, since my immune system is compromised right now. She had me take this stuff from Whole Foods called Kick Ass Immune (secretly, I think my mom likes saying the word ass, she is naughty like that). Anyway I took it and wow...I have never licked a cows butt before but after taking that I know what one tastes like. GROSS. But she says it REALLY works...I guess I will never know. Ever.

Busy, Busy, Busy

No time for a REAL post with pictures and junk...just a quick hello. Everyone tends to panic when I go too long without posting. Really I am OK. My new meds seems to be some sort of miracle drug and have not only helped with my pain they are lowering my blood sugar. OR my pain was causing my blood sugar to stay high...whatever it is life is good. I am feeling great and I have been insulin free for weeks. I have the occasional bad day pain wise, but that is to be expected. If you have no idea what I am talking about This post should clear things up.

Big Daddy and I spent a G-L-O-R-I-O-U-S weekend in Monterey and have ONE picture to share. Crazy nuts how i never remember to take the camera out unless the kiddo is with us. OH well. We ended our weekend in Hollister with family and of course I have a ton of pics of the KIDS...and some fabulous video of my nephews teaching Big Daddy how to skateboard. Stay Tuned....

I just found out who i was matched with for shortmama's Spring Swap. Sami from SymmetryInMotion she is a fairly new blogger and she just wrote the FUNNIEST post...y'all need to stop in and say hello...tell her Mamarazzi sent you. Please?! I love new bloggy friends and I remember being a newbie and wondering who was out there reading me...so show the girl a little comment love.

We are off to Hollister for the weekend as soon as J is out of school today. My adorable niece Taylor (brother's oldest) is in the musical Annie (love that show) she is playing Molly. We are going to support her and my sister Amy who is the musical director and my little nephew Steven (Amy's youngest) who is playing Sandy the dog. Steven is funny, he is 4, he is unpredictable and he loves a laugh...this should be fantastic!!

My folks are also home from their 2 yr mission in Colorado, so I am looking forward to basking in their awesomeness for a few days too.

Big Daddy's vacation is over on Sunday night...oh how I have loved doing nothing with him this last week. Pure bliss...no schedule, no time line, just hanging out and doing whatever we fancied. Awesome.

OK...I am off...thanks for the love and the emails and texts...it's nice to be missed.

Randoms 'round Here

I haven't blogged in a week.

I am starting to get a bunch of emails asking if I am OK. The short answer is YES. The long answer is it took a little time for my new meds to kick in but the pain is going away slooooowly and I am beginning to feel more like myself everyday. Thanks for your notes and prayers. They are VERY much appreciated!!!

I got my a few of Favorite Things packaged up and sent off to my swap partner over the weekend. It thrills me that all this week Goodness will be arriving via snail mail to women all over the USA and I was the one who made it happen. Yep, patting myself on the back a little. Organizing these swaps is a lot of work but totally worth it. I am grateful for the distraction.

Got my hair did today. I think I like it. I wish it was a little darker but the cut is good and the girl is great. I will most def be going back. I cannot believe it has been a year since I last got my hair cut. Remember when THIS happened? Yea, you would wait a year before being brave enough to find a new girl too.

So far March has been amazing. I knew it would be. I love the beginning of Spring. I love the idea of starting fresh. After being sick for so long I am determined to make March MY month. Of course April will be MY month too since it is my birthday month. I feel pretty positive that I will be back to my old self by then.

There are some pretty fantastic things on the horizon for our family. Stuff I am DYING to blog about but can't...yet. But dreams are coming true y'all and I am really excited about the possibilities of it all.

This weekend Big Daddy and I are headed to Monterey. His cousin Jessica is getting married to his best friend Keith. I set them up almost 2 years ago. I am an excellent matchmaker. We are taking the opportunity to make it a little romantic getaway for ourselves (J opted not to join us) and will be spending the weekend soaking up the goodness of the fresh ocean air. I am hoping the weather is nice. The wedding is on the beach, I can't wait to get some sand between my toes.

Jordan is busy counting down the days to Summer. She graduates 8th grade this year. High School? Oh man I am not ready for High School. She has become quite the teenager in the last few months and has even starting trying on a little "snark" now and then. How did THAT happen? My mom swears she NEVER did the whole "I hope you have a kid just like you someday". She said she would never wish the kind of kid I was on anyone. But every now and then J will get a little attitude and I wonder if my mom just never said it out loud. Help me. Honestly for the most part J is a really great kid. We are VERY blessed, she is actually still fun to be around...when she isn't busy making other plans.

Hmmm...what else? I think that's it for now. I hope to get some pictures taken this weekend of sunny skies and me and my hubby.

Life is beautiful.
