Honestly? I have a few bloggy peeves. I know this might bug a few people.
Go ahead, leave me a mean comment.
I am, after all, bringing it upon myself. You know, by being totally honest with you.
But after a few years blogging, and learning from my own mistakes, I feel the need to share.
So here goes...
I Confess...
I skip blogs with the auto start playlist. Really, it totally annoys me. If you have a playlist please, for the love of your reader's bloggy audio space, make your playlist an OPTION. If I wanna hear some music I really will push play. I promise.
I Confess...
I get totally overwhelmed by super long posts. Paragraphs that go on FOREVER seriously over stimulate me and sometimes, I just skip them. I don't know if it is ADD or what, but I can't focus. I REALLY want to know what you have to say...but I cannot spend an hour reading, or trying to.
I Confess...
My paragraphs use to go one forever too. Luckily I had a good bloggy friend tell me that my posts were hard to read. I tried to fix that. I am FAR from perfect, but NOW I see what she was talking about.
I Confess...
Word Verification HATES me, and honestly the feeling is mutual. IF you must have word verification on your blog PLEASE use the "pop up" comment box option. It makes life so much easier than having to wait for your page to load THREE times.
I Confess...
I am not a fan of those blog-hop-follow-me link parties. I did one,ONCE. The only people who actually commented on my POST were my loyal readers. I got a million "Hi, I am your newest follower, follow me back!" copy paste comments...GAG! People who leave a comment telling my they are following and never say a word about the post I created kinda bug me. OH and the people who just come and say, "Hey, I have an award for you on my blog!" Thanks, but what about the POST I spent the time composing? Anything? hmph...
I Confess...
I love to blog jog, I stretch first, go potty and get a snack...and there are nights when I cannot sleep that I will stay up all night reading and commenting.
I Confess...
If I leave a comment on your blog and you don't respond by either commenting on my blog OR responding to my comment via email I probably won't come back often. It makes me feel like a stalker. If people aren't going to respond to comments they should remove the comment option.
I Confess...
I love responding to people's comments via email...so please don't be that "no reply" blogger. Especially if you ask me a question. Do you really want an answer? Enable your email address, let's continue the conversation.
I Confess...
I love a good Linky Party. LOVE! I host one every weekend, My Happy List. Sometimes in quiet moments I feel a little sorry for myself that after months of hosting it's not catching on. Why doesn't everyone want to play with me? I really am a cute fun girl...please play.
I Confess..
My feelings also get a little hurt when I have almost 40 women who have filled out the Queen for the Day form, so they can have their blogs featured on Dandelion Wishes but there are only 10-11 comments on recent Queen for the Day posts. Really? You wanna be featured but you can't come and give the featured Queen a little love? Think about it? Not nice...and it also totally defeats the purpose of Queen for the Day, more than a little bit.
I Confess...
Creating this post was REALLY hard for me.
It will probably sit in my "draft" folder for a long time before I actually post it, if I ever do.
Mostly because I don't want to hurt feelings.
And because I don't want you to stop visiting my blog.
Cuz I like you. A lot.
P.S. Have you entered my giveaway yet?

FIRST!
i feel the same way about word verification. if i try 3 times and still fail . i usually move on.
some playlists rock. others don't . i like the option. auto start bugs.
i used to be a big paragragher.
now i like to think i'm not and my blog is easier to read but sometimes. some posts just go on and on. i hope those posts are deemed worthy of a read but realize people have things to do.
i prefer it if everyone was easy to reply to. often i want to comment back. it bugs when i can't.
i love that you do.
no hurt feelings here, i agree totally. i'm sure others do too!
hugs lady. hope you are having fun with yo' mama!
I hate the audio tracks, too. Just because I like what someone writes, doesn't mean I share their taste in music. I don't impose my music on them, so they shouldn't impose theirs on me.
I also hate word verification. If I am reading from a mobile device, it almost never works properly. By the time I get to a computer, I have probably forgotten what I wanted to post, anyway.
Aww I'll still read you! I'm not offended. I've been feeling guilty just posting hops etc cause life has been stressful. I'm not sure what I'm rambling about! Sorry! But yah I'll still read u!
Aw well done hun that must have been hard for you to post that blog? Don't worry no one seems offended I certainly am not. It is meerely your opinion and theres nothing to be ashamed of there.
One thing though I can't always get by to comment on peoples posts but when I do I try to make it heartfelt and as honest as possible. That way you (or whoever's blog I'm commenting on) will feel the love! :-)
xxxx
Well yeah! Especially on the word verification, playlists, and comment reciprocation parts ;-)
Great post! I think we all feel the same way about some of the things you mentioned but don't have the nerve to post about it! Ha! Thanks for being the spokesperson for us all.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
I 100% agree about the word verification! I simply don't post if someone has it turned on!
Oh and auto start playlists! ugh! what about those of us that are trying to blog hope at work. That will get you kicked off my list to visit.
I totally agree with you about the auto playlists...SO annoying.
I'm with you on all of this. I don't read the wordy blogs either, don't have time. I read and I follow and I comment. Glad to be here! Carla (ebby43 at aol dot com)
Oh yeah! Girl, I will still read you. I am not a huge commenter on my blog. I am more of a stalker. Mostly because I feel that people won't care about what I have to say.
I love you (and your blog)!
You shouldn't worry about offending others with your opinion.
Some will take the advise to heart and consider ways to change their blog, while others are creatures of habit and will always have the same style...either way, it gives people something to think about.
I hate auto start playlists. Often times, I wasn't the last person to use the laptop, so the sound is turned WAAAAY up. Then I get online while my kids are napping and BAM, music out of nowhere. It is so annoying, and I don't read those blogs often, because I don't like that it scares the crap out of me every. single. time.
I'm totally a long paraghrapher, but those posts are blogged for different reasons, and if my blog was public, I probably wouldn't put them on there.
I miss comments. I was just thinking that yesterday when I read your post about you having fun with mom and amy. You had like 7 comments already, and I thought dang! My readers don't like me anymore....or they just aren't reading anymore, hahahha! Maybe my paragraphs were too long ;)
I don't like mean comments if they are anonymous. I totally get anonymous comments that are too personal/private to share your identity, or if your identity is irrelevant to the comment (like an answer to a how to question, that you'd like to answer but don't want traffic coming to your blog from), but seriously, if you gotz sumtin harsh to say to me, at least own it, otherwise, well it's obvious that you are only saying it to be hurtful.
I have a few posts that have been sitting in my draft folder for awhile. Don't know if they'll ever be posted. Some, I've already deleted, but they felt good to type.
These are some of the same things that annoy me! Thanks for keeping it real :-)
Am I a long paragrapher? I think I might be. I'm usually afraid that if I leave too much "space" between my paragraphs, my post will be too long. So, even if I start a new paragraph, it doesn't really stand out because of the lack of spacing. I'll try to be better...
I totally agree with everything else that you said. Auto playlists usually scare 2 years off my life, and I waste a lot more of my life trying to respond to "no reply bloggers". I also don't like when people try to answer my questions in their comment section. Chances are...once I've commented, I'm not going to go back to the comments to see if they have responded. THAT is what having your email enables is all about, right?
I totally comment on EVERY queen for the day post! I'm saddened that some people don't. Not only do I comment over here, but most weeks, I go leave soem love on AT LEAST 2-3 of the queen's posts. It's just common courtesy!
See...long paragraphs! I just can't help myself! I think I need therapy.
We are very similar bloggers:-)
Good post... and I agree with some of the stuff... but the e-mailing back and forth just isn't possible. It never occurred to me that people who comment on my blog expect some sort of response... (unless there's a question... :-)
No mean comment from me...right there with you on all of them. I also don't like blogs that take a negative spin on motherhood...even for humor. I have enough negativity and frustration about this super hard job from my own mind, I need encouragement!
GREAT list. I have been thinking about some of the very same things. You read my mind! :)
Playlists... this is the exact reason that my volume is off & if I want to hear something I have to turn it up. So annoying!
The nonreply bloggers make me so mad. How am I supposed to answer back??? I think the biggest pet peeve of mine is people answering back in their own comments. I am not going to remember to come back& I don't want to click the little email follow-up comments box because then you get EVERYONES comments.
I'm with you on the long paragraphs. It also bothers me when the default font is 18 point for no good reason. I won't read the blog.
Autoplay drives me crazy. I usually try to read for a few minutes here and there throughout the workday. Music blaring from my computer is not office appropriate...most of the time I just keep the sound on the computer turned off all day.
I stand behind you 100%! I hate word verification. I love when bloggers take the time to respond to comments - it makes me feel like they really appreciate the time I spend on their blog. And I like it when people comment on my blog - but it bugs when they comment in a way that I can't respond to them (especially when they ask a question).
HolleeAnn, this post was gold. Thanks for sharing your opinion and advise. I was really glad to read stuff that I need to work on (long, rambled paragraphs, anyone?).
I think I'm a bad "comment backer," as well. I'll work on that one. You've left such nice comments and I didn't realize that was important.
Thanks again. Hope your time with (some of) your family was great and refreshing!
Angie, who just left a long, rambly comment. Baby steps. Baby steps. :)
I actually agree with a lot of these. I try to respond to every commenter, but I have never responded via email. I guess I just never really thought to do it that way. I respond in the comments section.
Also I hate it when you give an award and someone will say "Hey Look I got an Award!" and not even thank you!
Hah this was done in the nicest way, so if people are offended, they need to suck it up & move on! I love your posts, and even though I don't comment on each & every one, you're definitely one of my favorite bloggers out there! =]
I tend to agree with most of these. I admit though to being a sucky blogger friend some days.
Honesty is the best policy so don't feel bad. You were very nice about it hon! <3
You have a awesome blog so keep it up!
I SO agree! I hate, hate, hate word verification. It seriously ruins my mood. Ugh!!
I also don't see why it's so hard to reciprocate comments. It should be a given!
I think you're awesome!
I agree with you on the Audio thing(I actually agree with you on everything but mostly the audio playlist, I also am sometimes a bad blogger friend though and I'll admit it straight up!). I have a very small Apt with my husband and baby (it's 700 sq ft) anyways, sometimes I forget to mute my computer and after my baby goes to sleep all I want to do is relax and blog jog. However, when I don't mute my computer I all of a sudden get this blaring racket coming from the blog and I almost die because if my baby wakes up it will take me another 1-2 hours to get her back to sleep. which, in turn means no ME time!
Good to know! I have bloggy pet peeves too! You haven't run me off yet :)
Your only saying what other people are thinking. Nothing wrong with that! Your blogs awesome!
Not offended at all! In fact, you helped me make the final decision to just take the music player off of my blog.
See, you did a good deed by confessing. Now you can apply for sainthood, or something like that. :)
Ok, as for your post: Love it, and have post of the same peeves!
(Oh, and I'm really glad it didn't sit in draft land forever!)
OMGosh, I hope I don't do any of those peeves you don't like. LOL
I used to have a playlist on mine and if you wanted you could listen but it didn't just pop up.
And the queen for the day...I always comment, they are always adorable queens! ;)
Wow. You read my mind on 99.9 percent of that. I totally love and respect honesty. I'll be honest now. I love that you do swaps. SO COOL! I don't like when a someone goes out of their way to get awesome swap goodies and gets "no-so-great-poorly-thought-out things in return". I know, petty. But real. :)
Thanks for the great post!
Amen about the playlists!!!! I turn my speakers off. They drive me crazy. I feel the same way. It I want your music I will listen but don't make me scroll all the way to the bottom of your blog to turn it off then all the way back to the top to read your post. Um, sorry by that time I'm bored and have moved on! I'm glad to "met" another women who loves her husband.
Ooooo! I always love when people say it like it is! I don't think you said anything off base here. It is all true and needed to be said. Thanks for having the chops to say it!
I have been trying to spread the word about enabling email reply. It really irritates me when people aska question and make it impossible to respond. :P
Thanks for the heads up about music. I used to have it, but never replaced it. I was almost thinking about redoing it...until now. I guess it does make it a little hard to read AND listen. Thanks! :)
Playlists are soooo 2008! They drive me nuts!
I'm still here. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. People need to learn to be able to take a little constructive criticism.
I love reading your blog and check it out frequently!
I only have 1 follower so I blog jog too!
I am not a frequent blogger though...I do better in the summer when I am home!!
Keep up the good bloggy goodness!!!! YOU ROCK!
AND...I love that you posted your "I Confess..." about your bloggy pet peeves! The first one is a peeve of mine too! MUTE!!!!!!
TTFN
AMEN!!! I hate Auto playlists. I turn off my speakers so I don't have to listen to the annoying music. Then later when I want to listen to something I can't figure out why my computer is broken. Hehehe
Wow...it almost makes me nervous knowing that you read my blog now, since I'm sure I'm guilty of some of these things. :)
In my defense -- if I don't have the word verification thingy on, I get TONS of junk comments that leave porn site addresses and the like. Not cool!
Trying to fix email issue, but I'm exhausted and working off my Pre, so no promises!
Also just noticed I put "post" instead of "most" in last comment. Oops!
I love music! Sorry if it bugs you. I have received many comments and emails from friends/family who say that they listen to my playlist while at work or at home while doing chores. I have found lots of new music loves off of other people blogs. I am all for it. Just my 2 cents! I can't wait to add my Christmas playlist in a few weeks -LOL :-).
p.s. you can have your sound down or turned off while you blog hop.
This is why I love Friday Confessional! It's awesome when you can say what you really think -- all in the name of blogging! I'm a long poster and I don't like that about myself. I try to justify it because I am only able to post about once a week, but I realize I'm boring people. I need to keep it short. Thanks for the heads up! Nice job.
Love this post! I'm more of a post 50 pictures and then write a short blog about them.
I don't know what e-mail reply is but I'm going to figure it out! Thanks for the heads up. :)
I agree with you...on every single one of them!! We are pet peeve twinsies!
Yep, I hear you! I'm not a perfect blogger and a lot of times it takes me a long time to sit down and reply to all the comments, but I do it!
I only visit one blog (of a friend) that plays music. I haaaaate it because when I'm browsing blogs, I'm either watching tv and/or listening to music and then the blog sings and messes me up!
Have a great weekend!!
Wow! Look at all the comments on this post! I agree 100% about the playlist. HATE IT. And the word verification. It hates me, too. I used to have more time for blogging and commenting until Facebook sucked me in. I also know that's my own fault! Gonna try to be a better blogger.
I'll just say 'ditto' to the above. And add:
I confess: I think it's great if you do a giveaway on your blog but I'm not willing to jump through a million hoops to play. Either give something away because you WANT to, or don't. But don't pretend that you're generously giving something away when in reality it's all a ploy just to GET something to benefit yourself (more followers, exposure etc.).
Oh! That felt GOOODDD!
I am a great reader but not so great of a comment leaver....bad bad habbit and I am very sorry, if I see someone leave a comment I will always (as SOON as I see it) write back, I am sure there is a way to notify me, but I have not figured that one out yet, guess I fail at blogging! Sigh...sorry!
I am so with you on the playlists. I used to have one but got rid of it. I usually watch something while I'm blog hopping so then I have to hurry and find their button to pause it...
I enjoy the pop up box comments too.
I am so guilty of the commenting back thing. In the beginning I never thought about commenting back to people's comments and then one day it clicked.. but I still forget sometimes and I always comment back in my comments, not through email. I've never thought about doing it that way. So hopefully I don't annoy you too many times. :)
I love reading your blog! I'm not going anywhere!
I hate auto playlists! Nothing like getting caught at work browsing blogs because all of sudden your damn music starts blaring from my speakers. Not to mention it slows the page down a ton.
Oh! I just thought of another pet peeve. I HATE Twitter!! I tried it for a while and found it was mostly just a combination of a whining and a self-aggrandizing forum for most people. Did I really need to know what you had for breakfast, how tired they were of standing in line, etc.? I finally just deleted the account. I like give-aways that are simple and straightforward. Want to participate? Leave a comment. We pick one winner randomly from those who leave a comment. Only one way to play and one way to win. Sadly, hardly anyone does it like that.
Oh... and I just realized that I had word verification turned on for my blog. I took it off. ;) (I also figured out the pop-up comment thing, so I am going to try it. Thanks!)
Amen, sister! I think it is easy to get swept up in a follower-popularity contest and lose track of what makes blogging great- community! The sharing of ideas! Reaching out to others!
I just wanted to say I agree on all counts!
I love your blog peeves and feel the same about most or all of them. What I hate more than anything is the no-reply comments... I like replying and hate it when there is no way to respond! The music really bugs me too... but I usually just mute my computer and move on.... and word verification.... so annoying!
Love your blog peeve.... I got side tracked from commenting on your other post, I had to come check out the list!
interesting thoughts. i've done the ones mentioned in the others. but will have to take a look at my posts and see if they're too wordy.
and link parties...i had no clue that blogging entailed networking (for lack of a better word). it's new and neat and a great way for me to get a little "interaction" since i'm a sahm. anyway...thanks!
