My Folks are Awesome & Casa de Fruta

The first day of Camp Vasquez was spent with my parents and going on a FANTASTIC treasure hunt that my folks and sister Meg created for the kids. They LOVED it and the clues and booty was a big hit, very creative.

Then my folks treated everyone to see Despicable Me. Have you seen it yet? ADORABLE! Watching it with my nieces and nephews made it all the better. There is something magical about the laughter that comes from these beautiful children that I love so much!

Following the movie we grabbed some pizza and took it to the park and watched the kids play for a few hours...the weather was BEAUTIFUL!!

My folks really helped us out when plans totally changed last minute. I was worried about disappointing the kiddos who were really looking forward to the annual camp out at my in laws B&B but their disappointment didn't last long once they realized that my folks had some FUN planned for them AND that staying in Hollister one more night meant that their cousins who were visiting from Arkansas, Pieces, Q-Bee and Cheeto (not their real names LOL) would be able to enjoy the first few adventures with us.

It all worked out perfectly. Thank goodness, I hate telling kids we are going to do one thing then not coming through (even when it is WAY beyond my control). I make it a practice to never break a promise, so this was really rough for me.

It ended up OK though and even though the kids asked a few times about the Camp Out and expressed disappointment and confusion, it couldn't be helped and they still love me so..moving on.

Saturday one the way to Camp Vasquez we stopped at Casa de Fruta.

It was especially fun to have my folks, Josh (my sister Amy's husband) and my sister Meg and her 3 darlings with us.

OH and this little sweetie...Coco.

umm, yeah...we are THOSE "let's take a pic of our puppy" people. Don't judge us.

The first order of business was jumping on the Train.I love the picture of Meg below, she was totally offended that neither of her girls would sit with her on the train. Hilarious!

The kids then jumped in line for the GORGEOUS Carousel that was handcrafted in Italy.

See the 3 big boys Zachary, Parker and Ty? That little bucket SPINS and My sister Meg has the BEST video, I hope to get her to send it to me so I can share it with you. It. Is. Awesome.

You can buy these bags willed with sand and gemstones for the kids to sluice. This was a HUGE hit. I don't think they were expecting to find so many cool stones. My nephew Tyler is a big rock collector and I learned my niece Pieces is also really into it. The kids could have done this all day, something about the cool water on a hot afternoon and found booty.

It was such a great day, picnicking and enjoying watching the cousins together.

BIG thanks to my Mom and Dad for putting together such an amazing couple of days at the last minute. You guys really saved me and created some magic for your grandkids. I love you both.

It was so hard to say goodbye to Meg and her 3 little darlings. I need to get out to Arkansas to see them. They were here for THREE weeks but it was not nearly long enough since I am the only one who doesn't live in Hollister and didn't get to sped as much time with her as my folks did and siblings could have.

Wow...all looks and sounds so fun.

And, hey, I've been to Casa de Fruita a million times and where the heck is the "casa de sluice" Maybe I've seen it and am just not remembering but wow totally drew a blank on ever seeing it there.

Oh man that picture of me is HILARIOUS! I was so mad. My children are already embarrassed to be seen with me! I'll be posting the carousel video soon. I also have one of ty spinning at Dennis the Menace park that can't be beat.

What a fun weekend that was! I couldn't believe how greedy greedy the kids all got during the treasure hunt. Wowzers!
I have pics from that day, too. Feel free to take anything I post.

Kasey sent me a facebook message last night that said, "have you seen Despicable Me? The little girl with the pink hat is Quincy!"
So true.

I didn't grow up with cousins. My mom & dad had best friends who are like our cousins & we spent quite a bit of time with them. Now as my sisters & I are older we make it a point that our kids spend A LOT of time together. I LOVE seeing cousins together, I LOVE them acting more like brothers & sisters then cousins, I LOVE the love that they all share & I know my sister do too.

We're taking the girls on a train ride this fall where it stops at a pumpkin patch and the kids get to pick a pumpkin to take home. Can't wait!

Great day, wonderful way to kick off Camp Vasquez, I loved how as we were pulling out of the parking lot the kids were singing their scout camp songs tweaked to fit Camp Vasquez. Good times, beautiful, good times.
