Big Daddy's 10K

On Saturday July 10 Big Daddy ran his first 10K.

As you know Big Daddy has been working hard to make a healthier life for himself and running a 10K was a goal of his.

He started the morning bright and early with our nephews having a healthy oatmeal breakfast.
with fresh apple slices...here he is entertaining the boys.
a little manly stretching while waiting for Amy, my sister...who also ran with him, to get in the car.
the super man
the superman going the other direction...
oh OK enough stretching Amy is here and ready to go....
I arrived a little behind them with J, my folks (who I did not get a single picture of grrr)
Big Daddy and a couple of his cheerleaders...I am most def his number one fan (afer himself of course...he is also the president of his fan club)
All of the runners. Amy and Big Daddy ran the 10K and her hubz Josh and two older boys Parker and Tyler ran the 2 mile walk/run.
Big Daddy...I made him stop for a quick pic under the time clock.
Here they are starting the race...ignore the woman video taping, she was a little emotional.
video
Here are Josh, Parker and Tyler finishing strong...
and finally we saw Big Daddy and Amy coming towards the finish line...
closer and closer...and looking good!
and here they are running in...again, ignore the emotional videographer...embarrassing.

Big Daddy's official time was 1:10:40 (that's an amazing 11 minute mile) barely broke a sweat and looking super sexy....
ahhhh refreshing...btw have you tried the Powerade ZERO...YUM and zero calories...the grape is super awesome.
The boys won 2nd and 3rd place in their age group, which was awesome for them on their first run too...they finished the 2 miles in 15 min.
what a cool Summer memory for them.
sporting their medals
I am so seriously impressed with my husband y'all. He is truly amazing. I can only imagine what it must feel like to have lost 145 pounds, keep it off for a year and then run a 10K what an accomplishment!

I am also so grateful to my sweet sister Amy for running with him. She was a huge motivator and I know he really appreciated her for helping him to keep going.

My folks were also a HUGE support. I am so mad at myself for not getting a single picture of them...I mean really, they drove over the hill and got up at 5:30am to be there to cheer him on THEN my dad fired up the grill for an awesome lunch poolside. We are BOTH so glad they came, it meant a lot to Big Daddy to have so many people there for him.

I must also say I am thinking of becoming a professional cheerleader for 10Ks, marathons and other footraces. I am seriously good at yelling "good run" and clapping and "woo hooing" runners in. I even had someone thank me...yeah, I am THAT good.

But enough about me...it is time to share a teeeeeeny tiny bit of the awesomess that entertained us as we waited for Big Daddy and Amy to complete the race.

YES there was more of this kind of freaky goodness...lots and lots of old man junk in spandex, some crazy shorty shorts on people who seriously have no business wearing them and several women whose sport bras runneth over. I am pretty sure a few of those women went home with at least one black eye from the bouncing boobage.

But who am I to talk, I made sure I had a nice comfy chair in the shade so I wouldn't wear myself out WATCHING all of the running.

I am smart like that.

"so I wouldn't wear myself out watching all the running".

I love you.

Go Fonzo and Amy!!!

I ran with Amy for her first sustained long run just over 2 years ago, and now look! So inspiring!
This is awesome, y'all! And watch out for Fonzo. The longer men run, the sexier they think they are in the speedo's, and more apt they are to purchase one. It's like a Vegas effect. When you land in Vegas, you're like "My eyes! The bright lights! The bad hair! The animal prints are everywhere!" but by the time you leave, you're rattin' those bangs and sayin' to yourself, "man I gotta get me some gold pants!"
Fonz just got off the plane, so you're safe for a little while, but trust me, you've been warned.

I think this may be the first time I have commented on your blog. :)

Your videos brought tears to my eyes watching him cross that finish line. I know he must have felt AMAZING! I did a half marathon in May and had to control myself after I crossed the finish line b/c all I wanted to do was bawl like a baby! Congrats to Big Daddy on all his accomplishments! Losing 145 pounds is awesome and he looks great!!!

I, too, love the yellow dress!!!

What an awesome weekend for you all!!!
