Birthday and a Close One

Oh I had the most amazing birthday y'all!

It started with a birthday doughnut and about a million Happy Birthday wishes over on Face Book...my phone was blowing up all day between the FB alerts, text messages and phone calls.

Big Daddy and I went to see Alice in 3-D...so good. We really liked it. Not sure how it would translate for little kids, you know Tim Burton is kinda dark. But we super loved it!

Then we went to dinner at one of our favorite steak houses, Cool Hand Luke's...YUM!

They give you a complimentary birthday sundae there...how did they know it was my birthday?

I wasn't feeling like ice cream and was full but I pushed the spoon around a little bit and took a few little bites of whipped cream and marshmallows before passing it over to Big Daddy to enjoy.

I was starting to feel a little "itchy" throat and was hoping the cold I had last week wasn't making a comeback when I heard the following conversation:

Big Daddy: Excuse me, but are their nuts in this?
Waitress: umm yeah a sundae mix
Big Daddy: can you see if there are walnuts in the mix, my wife is deathly allergic.
Waitress: oh ok

now my lip is feeling tingly and I look at Big Daddy and he akss, "did you eat any of these nuts under the whipped cream?" I said, "I don't think so, I didn't even see nuts. Who puts the nuts UNDER the whipped cream?"

Our waitress returns to say, "yeah the mix has almooooonds and peeeeeanuts and walnuts." (just like that...all sloooow moootion, cuz we got time to spare..sheesh)

So Big Daddy and I beat feet (and my now fat lower lip) to the market around the corner and run to the med isle and crack open a pack of quick melts benedryl I pop 4 and we decide to do a little grocery shopping...as long as we are there, why not.

So we stroll around the market as the benedryl works its magic and all that I have left to remind me of the incident is a split lower lip and yet another...could be dead story, lame!

Crisis averted. I am pretty sure I didn't consume any walnuts since the reaction was so mild, but wow...contamination is scary too. My allergy didn't use to be this severe.

I really don't need anymore near death experiences!!

Especially on my birthday~

OH and one of my birthday wishes came true...

Peggy the cleaning lady came and deep Spring cleaned my whole house! It was awesome. I am basking in the clean air freshness as I type this!

We went to San Francisco this weekend...I have some fun pictures to share, but I am going to turn it into it's own post!!

...but here are a couple of short videos that will make you smile...please ignore my commentary, wow I need to shut up when taking video...lame!

Here is a seagull who scored a pack of oyster crackers but couldn't figure out how to get them open...

video

I turned the camera back on after the gull pulled a sack out of the garbage. THEN the gull got a little toooo close to me and well...it was scary...

This sounded like an episode from the movie Hitch where Will Smith gets an allergic reaction and has to dash to the pharmacy section of the drug store.

So glad that yours didn't turn out that bad and that you were able to enjoy your birthday none the less.

Please stop by my blog today to meet a blogger in need of help!

I can't imagine being allergic to things like that. I would be so worried about your exact situation, getting it by accident! Glad you're ok!

So glad that was one crisis that didn't leave you back in the hospital!!

And I am STILL jealous of your cleaning lady present. SOOOOOOOOOOOO jealous. :)

Your story about the allergic reaction and the Benadryl reminds me of the scene in Hitch when Will Smith's character has an allergic reaction...it's one of the funniest scenes I've ever seen. I'm so glad it wasn't worse for you, Holly. You've been through quite enough lately and you deserve to have a WONDERFUL birthday!

I'm so glad nothing more serious happened! They should inform people about their "sundae mix" before presenting the treat.
LOVE the videos! I'm scared of birds, though, so I probably wouldn't have even been that close...

Wow talk about a close call! This reminds me, I should reeeaaally learn how to use that epi pen I got back in November! You know, just in case...

Happy belated birthday! Happy to hear you made it through alive :)

Oooh! A clean house courtesy of SOMEONE ELSE - now that is what I call a b'day present!

And how crazy is that with the nuts! Thank goodness there was a place around the corner to get some Benadryl. My little bro had a close call like that too. So scary!

Despite all the crazy stuff, I'm glad you had a great b'day.
