Happy Birthday to ME!!

Yes, really. It's my birthday and it is April Fools day. No foolin' around here, just lots of celebrating.

I love my birthday. A WHOLE DAY that's all about me...what's not to love really?

I know Big Daddy and I will be doing a few of my favorite things today...more on that later.

So what is my birthday wish this year...well I can't REeeeeeally tell you, cuz then it might not come true, riiiiight?

BUT...

When I was a kid my mom would always ask for the same thing on her birthday, or any other holiday for that matter. The SAME thing, every year; a clean house and something about her kids getting along, blah blah blah.

I never really understood, until now.

OH what I wouldn't give for someone to come and deep clean my house. From baseboards to cobwebs...THAT would be awesome. This is the first year I have ever wanted this. I am typically an excellent house keeper. But I swear I just can't get caught up after being sick for soooo long. I just want a fresh start that I can maintain.

Is that too much to ask?

Oh and clean carpets too...nice clean carpets.

And flowers in my yards, that would be awesome.

OK I might be taking the birthday wish a little far....whatever.

So fun day planned today.

THEN this weekend our little family is headed to San Rafael to spend a few days at my in laws Bed and Breakfast. We are going to take the ferry into the city for Dim Sum at my favorite place. If the weather is nice we will poke around the city a little bit. I love San Francisco.

THEN next week is Spring break. We haven't fully decided what we will be doing...there are a few options. We are thinking of going to my brother's cabin in Jackson just to bask in the awesomeness of my family.

AND my folks are coming sometime this month to spend few days with us before the head off to Arkansas to soak up the goodness of my sister Meg and her adorable family. They are actually renting a vacation home there and will stay for a few months. We plan on making a trip out there while they are there.

I truly am grateful to be celebrating another year. I think this year feels extra special and surprisingly emotional for me.

Not just because I am turning 39 *gasp* next year the big 4-OH...

....but because I realize how very close I came to not being alive to celebrate this day. I am TRULY blessed and so thankful for modern medicine and faith in prayers.

So this might be a big year for me. I should have died, but I didn't. I can't help but thing that God has something special in store for me.

I feel ready for it.

Looks like I picked a good day to come back! Happy birthday, and if you got your house deep cleaned AND flowers in the yard, you are superwoman. I've been wishing for that for a long time. And clean carpets! Oh my, dare to dream. My 16 year old son asked me yesterday when we were going to get new carpet (his answer to dealing with dirty carpet...don't clean it, just get new) and I said when he stopped getting stains on it. He looked at me in righteous indignation and said, "You are mean." Ahem. I had just spent the last hour trying to get the stains out from his sleepover this weekend. Oh wait, I forgot. Teenagers know everything, including when it is a good time to get new carpet. My bad.

Happy birthday, HolleeAnn! May your new year bring you peace, joy, and a team of carpet cleaners.

It is funny how the idea of love and service change as we age. A clean house does wonders for the psyche. :)

Happy birthday!!
My mom always asked for the same lame stuff too...I wished she would ask for something that cost money! That would be easier!

Have a GREAT birthday:-)

I can totally hear mom saying that. It was the same every year. I think the difference is that at least WE ASKED what she wanted! My kids don't even know it's my birthday unless I tell them....and then they ask for cake (that I will have to clean up!)

A day in SF sounds so awesome! You guys will have a blast, I'm sure. One of my favorite things about you is that nothing has to be PLANNED for you to have fun. You are so fun to just hang around with! I hope this year is a fabulous one for you, and I think you are right about being preserved for something good. I can't wait to hear what 39 has in store for you! I love you, and I wish we were there to bask in YOUR awesomeness! Happy Birthday!

Go out and celebrate the beauty that this new year for you brings. I just finished reading Joyce Meyer's new book, Eat the cookies...Buy the shoes and in it she shows us all how we don't like to celebrate things that we should like birthdays. The older we get the more we just see them as another year.

Yet in the book she teaches you value for yourself and how special and uniquely we all are in God's eyes. He never takes us or one day for granted. We need to do the same. Celebrate more and enjoy the life He gave us.

Hope you stop by as I am hosting weekly giveaways now on my blog.

Happy belated birthday! I meant to comment yesterday, but I didn't get around to it. I had a friend once who's birthday was also on April Fool's day, and she hated it because all of her friends always got her gag gifts. You know, dead flowers, plastic insects, that kind of thing. Did that ever happen to you?

Of course God has something special in store for you! He has a plan and a purpose, even if we don't always. I'm thankful you're here, too. Hope your birthday was blessed and have a terrific weekend!
