Randoms 'round Here...

I am having a hard time maintaining my blog. Life is just so crazy bananas right now...my camera is FULL of great pictures and video and this whole "blog time" (you know blog time, if it happened over a week ago it feels funny posting it...so old news and all) is keeping me from making some really cute fun posts. I am thinking I will try and play catch up soon...if I can find the time.

J is wearing glasses full time now, she had a major growth spurt this last year, she is 5'3". She got her new glasses on Friday, they are cute and she is already asking for different ones for different outfits...I suppose that is my fault, the kid most def inherited my 80's matchy poo poo sense of style...this is why she has like 60 pairs of shoes and millions of earrings and accessories. I am going to look online for glasses on the cheap and see what I can do to accommodate her girlish desires. It's the least I can do after turning her into such a little freak! *wink* To me her glasses make her look lots younger...I will post pics soon.

She gets her braces on July 9th. The kid is headed for an awkward 8th grade, but she is super excited about it and is already talking about "the big reveal"....she figures her braces will be on for about 2 yrs (I am thinking it might be more like 3) so when she gets them removed she will be 16. She thinks she will want contact lenses by then so when the braces come off she plans on making the switch from glasses to lenses...hence the "big reveal". The kid pretty much cracks me up.

We went to Hollister this last weekend to soak up the goodness that is my niece and nephews. We had a blast! My niece Taylor, J, Big Daddy and my Brother in law Josh and I stayed up until 3am baking and playing games. THEN we got up at 6am to have a yard sale. We made some pretty good lettuce selling all of the clothes J has outgrown, clothes Big Daddy has shrunk out of, and baked goods. We also introduced Taylor to Simon Says via text message...she was a great sport and I am pretty sure she will carry the game on to her friends.

There is all kinds of Red, White and Blue goodness arriving on doorsteps all over the United States this week...and yeah I feel pretty awesome knowing that I organized that. I will have mister linky up for people to sign in to so y'all can bask in the awesomeness that is Mamarazzi's Red, White and blue Swap.

I fly to Colorado on Friday July 3, yep..I am running away from home, just me, on a plane outta here. I am super stoked to see my folks, who are on a mission there and who I have not seen since November 08. My brother Scotty and his wife Kristie also live in the area so I get to see them too...I haven't seen them in a couple years. AND my sister Meg and her adorable family will be driving from Arkansas so I get to see them too. It's going to be a week filled with little girl goodness, fresh baby boy smooches and good food, because my size zero sister is all about the eats...not kidding, food obsessed doesn't begin to cover it. She is planning her entire vacation around butterburgers, noodles, and cookies...seriously love her.

Of course this all works out just fine with my new plan....we got a family gym membership a couple weeks ago. Big Daddy has gone almost everyday. Jordan has gone at least 5 times a week. J has taken full advantage of the personal trainer that came with the 3 year membership. We decided she would get the best use out of it. I wanted her to learn how to use the exercise equipment so she wouldn't hurt herself working out. I have yet to go to the gym...I am planning on making some lifestyle changes when I get back from Colorado...honestly. I have been stressed beyond belief as our family has gone through some pretty heavy stuff. Now that things are BEGINNING to settle down I need to break up with my bad habits, face reality and get back to living. But first...good times and good food guilt free on my little vacation....I am soooooo excited!

Hmmm...I think that covers it, if you are still with me after a wordy post with no pictures, thank you...you are a true friend.

Patriotic Goodness

What are you doing this July 4th?
I am super excited to be flying to Colorado to see my folks and my brother Scotty and his wife Kristie. My sister Meg and her adorable little family including my brand new nephew Corbin and darling little girls Reese and Quincy are driving there from Arkansas so I am triple excited!! I have no idea what we will actually be doing but I know for sure that I will be getting my fill of smooching on those little cuties!!

What is your favorite dish to pass when attending a 4th of July party or summer barbecue?
People ask me to make my deviled eggs for most gatherings. I am also well known for a mean fruit salad...I really can cook, these are just requested most.

Do you have any July 4th traditions?
I feel like we do something different every year...so I guess not.

Share your favorite July 4th picture.
Here are a few from last year...

Father's Day

We had a great day celebrating Big Daddy on Father's Day. My awesome in laws came to town and we had an amazing time. Big Daddy loved the darling and thoughtful card that J composed for him and also loved the fact that she gave him guitar hero for Wii (it has been ordered and is on it's way) with a playful, "and daddy I am going to totally kick your butt". Awww they are so cute together!
After Big Daddy opened his card we hit the road to Jamestown where we explored Railtown State Historic Park. What a beautiful place, I cannot believe we have never been there with it so close to home. We have plans to go again and take the train ride and spend a day enjoying the park.
Once we got home we enjoyed playing games, followed by a dip in the pool and a deeeeelicious BBQ lunch. I am so glad my in laws were able to come and spend the day with us, we love when they come to town. My mother in law brought me these gorgeous roses from Georgia's Garden. They are soooo pretty...I wish these pictures did them justice. Thanks Carla!
It was a wonderful day...I am so thankful for the fantastic example of my own father growing up so I could know who to look for in my future husband and father of my children. Big daddy is a wonderful man and an excellent father who takes his responsibility of being a good dad to Jordan very seriously. I have seen this incredible man lose sleep, spend hours praying and really weigh all sides of a situation before making decisions on his daughter's behalf...for what will really be in her best interest. He loves her, it is a love that I know myself because my dad was this kind of dad too...he still is. I pray that when the time comes and J is out there looking for her happily ever after that she will look for a man as good as her daddy, it worked for me and if she is even half as happy as we are then life is beautiful.

It's A Girl Thing

The monkey bathroom is GONE! As I mentioned last week Jordan requested a makeover for her bedroom and her bathroom. We are waiting for the good stuff we ordered for the bedroom to arrive in the mail but we got the bathroom done tonight. I have to tell you I am pretty pleased with the cuteness of it all. I am also impressed with my willingness to "let go" of a few things that J decided she NEEDED in her bathroom. Example...Jordan came up with the very creative and colorful solution to the ugly 70's style lighting (I know we should just replace it, but that would leave less money for cute stuff). At first I was thinking it was a little much, but it is growing on me and it IS her bathroom...so I, the total control freak, let it go...yes I DO believe hell may very well be freezing over.

I have to say my favorite things in the bathroom besides the adorable shower curtain are the HUGE flowers on the towels and the darling BIG striped shag rug. J still wants a PINK toilet seat cover and a little PINK rug for in front of the toilet (i was going to skip both, not being a huge fan of such things) and since I truly am trying to give her what she wants for her space we will likely add those soon. We also found some cheap ($1.88 ea) bath accessories; toothbrush holder, soap dispenser and soap dish/toothpaste holder at WalMart and glued little daisy patches to them to make them match the decor...they turned out pretty cute, I think.

you can click to make the pic bigger but don't look too close to the crusty sink fixture the whole
bathroom really needs to be gutted redone, but we will just cover it up with cuteness for now.
I cannot wait for the bedroom redo...it is going to be FABULOUS!!

Wild Things!!

As you know Big Daddy and Jordan go on a weekly daddy daughter date. They don't always take the camera along to document their adventures, since I am the family photog, but this time they did. On Saturday they went to Applegate Park Zoo in Merced. This is a gem of a place "Since 1962, Applegate Park Zoo has been home to many wild animals in need of a safe place to live. Currently, the zoo population numbers approximately 75 Native California mammals, birds, and reptiles, most of which came from wildlife rescue centers. No longer able to survive in their normal habitat, these ambassadors from the wild need care and protection. In return they provide zoo visitors with a glimpse of the wonders of nature". Admission is less than $2 and it is a sweet little place to just go and enjoy an afternoon.

Some of the animals

Jordan and some wolves

aww Daddy's girl
Both Big Daddy and J look forward to this special time where just the two of them do something special...sometimes it is just a walk to the park or a trip to the local museum, but it is always a good time.
oh and of course a HUGE Sonic Happy Hour Slushie
on the drive home...cuz ya know a girl needs to get her drink on!

Confessions...

The challenge for this week's Friend Makin' Monday is CONFESSIONS...at first I thought I have very few dirty little secrets...then I thought again...so here goes, confessions from Mamarazzi.

(let me start with a few bloggy ones)
1. I HATE word verification, and it hates me. If I can't get the word right on the first try I typically skip it, even if I just spent a good amount of time composing a wordy (sometimes funny and often brilliant) comment. Sometimes, I just skip commenting all together, just cuz I hate that little word verification thingy...so if you see I have been by, stayed a while and left without saying anything...I probably DID but your word verification hates me.
2. And as long as I am confessing my bloggy peeves... I really have a hard time with blogs that have their play lists on auto start (i know, i know it's YOUR blog). Most of the time I am already listening to my own music or have the TV on. More often I am enjoying the silence soaking up people's bloggy goodness...THEN I click on some one's blog only to be blasted out of my seat by the music. Yo! Respect my bloggy audio space...let ME decide if I wanna listen to your tunes.

3. I host Mamarazzi's Swaparazzis because I love knowing that the hours of hard work organizing these swaps mean that women all over the United States are getting packages from other women all over the United States and making new friends through the process. THAT is a cool feeling...knowing I made it happen, spreading the L-O-V-E.

4. Speaking of Good Mail...I love sending it. It makes me happy...I especially love sending it to my nieces and nephews. I also love getting Good Mail...there is nothing better than going to the mail box and getting something other than junk or bills...makes my day every time.

5. See this pretty armoire? It is in my formal "sit and visit" front room. Oooooh I wonder what is inside?.....
....it's like Monica's closet on Friends...I cannot believe I am sharing this.
6. I am a line talker...seriously, do not make eye contact with me or I will assume that you want to be my new best friend. I also like to talk to people on planes. On a recent trip this was the conversation with the Guy in the seat next to me (GISNTM)
Me: Hi there, are you traveling for business or fun?
GISNTM: Hi, I don't like talking while flying.
Me: Oh are you a nervous traveler?
GISNTM: No, I just don't like talking.
Me: To anyone or just me?
GISNTM: I really just don't like talking.
Me: OH...soooo you are just rude?
GISNTM: *laughs* Yea, I guess I'm rude.
Me: OK good to know.
Seriously, it was his fault, he made eye contact.
7. I have made mention of this before, but it is confession worthy. I never EVER pump my own gas. I have no problem asking a total stranger to do it for me. I know how, I just don't.
8. This may not come as a big surprise to anyone who reads this blog regularly but these two people right here are my FAVORITE people in the whole world...I don't love anyone more than I love these two...A-N-Y-O-N-E. Yep, that's a lot of L-O-V-E!!

Changes...*sigh*

Jordan's 14th birthday is in August and she has requested a bedroom and bathroom makeover. The last time we made over one of her rooms was for her 12th birthday...it's time for a redo. In fact I have been trying to talk her into a makeover for a while now even though I will admit I am going to miss the little girlie girl touches of her bedroom. We did a little shopping this weekend and also ordered some things on line...I will post pictures of the final product, but in the meantime enjoy the cuteness of this little girl room...*sigh* (P.S lots of this stuff will be on craigs list soon, she takes GREAT care of her things and everything is in perfect condition)
She begged for this monkey themed bathroom a little over a year ago...BEGGED for it, I was not excited since her bathroom is also the guest bathroom, but it has grown on me...I don't think I will miss the monkeys as much as I will miss the soft pink touches of her bedroom. AND I loooove the choices she made for the bathroom redo...more to come later (I have no idea what I am going to do with the ugly 70's style "chain covered cord" lighting, time to get creative...the monkey vines were a crafty stretch). I am hoping to move the cuteness of the monkeys to my sister's boy's bathroom...so cute for them.
We aren't planning on redoing her game room anytime soon, she likes the bold colors and tropical theme she has going on in there. I am glad, I like that room too. This kid cracks me up, she is all about a theme...just a hint for the "theme" for the bedroom makeover...ZEBRA! Oh yes, she is a wild thing!

UNimportant Things That Make Me Happy

The UnOrganized Mom tagged me and asked that I please list 6 unimportant things that make me happy.

THIS is a very easy tag for me...it is often the little things that bring me pure bliss, you might recall THIS post about this very topic...while those little things i listed there aren't quite unimportant (in fact they could very well be the opposite) they are little things and often the little things are actually big things...but I digress...on to the UNIMPORTANT things...being unimportant they are obviously in no particular order...

1. My small addiction to Scrabble on Facebook! I love having a few games going at once for days at a time. It is super fun to have something to go to when I am downloading music, uploading pictures to the blog or just have a little downtime. It is also a fun thing to do with friends (holla! Anne) and family who live far away...if we are facebook friends..let's play!!

2. A large delicious Diet Pepsi over crushed ice, in a cup with a lid and a straw. It tastes even better when it is delivered with LOVE by Big Daddy....mmmm refreshing!3. This is a snapshot I took of our bed one morning about a year ago. I took it because as you can see the red and purple pillows are WAAAY over on the "other side" of the bed. Those red and purple pillows are mine, in an upside down V formation and yes they are toward the center of that king sized bed...it would appear that I am not capable of staying on my own side. THAT assumption would be wrong...you see the whole bed is MY side, Big Daddy gets whatever is left over...it's a little thing but it makes me VERY happy that my darling hubz puts up with my crazy sleeping (and non sleeping) issues. 4. Freshly painted pink toes...oh the goodness of a pedicure! 5. These DARLING salt and pepper shakers. I fell in looooove with them on a little day trip to Sausalito. We went there for my birthday and when I saw these little guys in a store I knew they needed to come home with me. Every time I use them I smile. 6. Pineapple Cilantro candles from Illuminations...they smell soooooo good!!

Photobucketif you feel like playing...I tag you!
