It's A Girl Thing

The monkey bathroom is GONE! As I mentioned last week Jordan requested a makeover for her bedroom and her bathroom. We are waiting for the good stuff we ordered for the bedroom to arrive in the mail but we got the bathroom done tonight. I have to tell you I am pretty pleased with the cuteness of it all. I am also impressed with my willingness to "let go" of a few things that J decided she NEEDED in her bathroom. Example...Jordan came up with the very creative and colorful solution to the ugly 70's style lighting (I know we should just replace it, but that would leave less money for cute stuff). At first I was thinking it was a little much, but it is growing on me and it IS her bathroom...so I, the total control freak, let it go...yes I DO believe hell may very well be freezing over.

I have to say my favorite things in the bathroom besides the adorable shower curtain are the HUGE flowers on the towels and the darling BIG striped shag rug. J still wants a PINK toilet seat cover and a little PINK rug for in front of the toilet (i was going to skip both, not being a huge fan of such things) and since I truly am trying to give her what she wants for her space we will likely add those soon. We also found some cheap ($1.88 ea) bath accessories; toothbrush holder, soap dispenser and soap dish/toothpaste holder at WalMart and glued little daisy patches to them to make them match the decor...they turned out pretty cute, I think.

you can click to make the pic bigger but don't look too close to the crusty sink fixture the whole
bathroom really needs to be gutted redone, but we will just cover it up with cuteness for now.
I cannot wait for the bedroom redo...it is going to be FABULOUS!!

We did a redo last summer, but it was tricky--it's the one room my 3 girls will be rotating as to who gets their OWN room, so they all had to agree on colors. But it turned out great.

The problem now is that it's time to switch rooms. Not looking forward to THAT chaos!

That is really fun! And you are so resourceful to be creative instead of big spending. I love the throw rug and the shower curtain. Everything is so colorful and cute. We have a "beach" bathroom in our house....shells, etc. because we have this horrid orange-yellow counter top that didn't work with all my green and burgundy stuff. With oranges & tans we have pulled it off and I get compliments a bunch. Good job - both of you! You make a good team!

Holy crap!!! I thought the Monkey bathroom was cute... but this is sublime!!! Sooo happy! Everyone should greet the day that way! Way to go making it work withOUT gutting the whole place! ;)

Those lights sure are 70's! The bathroom turned out super cute! Kudos on letting go a bit. I am sooooo anti the rugs that go around the toilet and the rug thing for the seat cover. I'm a microbiologist and they are super unsanitary and really ick me out!

WOW -- that is seriously impressive. Nice work! And I totally get the 'letting to' stuff. It's hard but sometimes we just need to do it!

Could you please tell me where you got the shower curtain? My 11 year old would love this! She is so tired of her overly "girly" room and we could both agree on this!:0) So cute! Lori

That is one of the cutest bathrooms I have ever seen! My husband was walking by the computer when I was looking at your pics and he said, and I quote, "I want our bathroom to look like that...Who has that bathroom?" LOL He thought it was very colorful. You see, EVERYTHING in my bathroom is WHITE, so I guess he is sick of it. Poor guy. Maybe I should add a little color. So, I just wanted you to know that I think it is TOTALLY adorable! Great job!

And I still love your floating dandelions. I never get tired of them. :o)

That is one FAB bathroom. Tell Jordan I am totally jealous! I want to do a bathroom all girly but since I have a son and a husband that is out of the question. {pouty lip} Oh to wash and dry my hands with colorful flowers all around! How Eden-ish! :)
