This Is NO Joke...

Today is MY Birthday. Yes, really. I was born on April Fool's Day. The story goes something like: my parents really wanted a little girl so God said something along the lines of, "OH have I got a deal for you" and it's been a bunch of laughs ever since, or I think that is how my mom tells the story. I am pretty sure she has worked through my teen years in therapy. Right mom?

My daddy use to tell me that I was funny, that I had a quick wit. I am pretty sure that through out my life that has been the one compliment that ranks highest on my own personal scale. I mean I know I am a cute, fun girl...I don't exactly have a low self esteem but when people laugh at my jokes...oh yeah, that's the good stuff.

*Tiger Beat...I had my walls plastered with pics of boys from this magazine and others. I also had a small obsession with surfer boys and when my daddy had a little extra time on his hands he thought it was funny to cut little shirts out of paper and tape them to all the posters of the boy's who "forgot to wear one" (sorry Billy Hufsey for the bald spot the tape left behind, your poster was my favorite)!
*Did you have the banana seat bike with a basket or a flag? I personally had a PINK Huffy with a number 01 Number plate on the handle bars...I loved that bike.
*Braided ribbon barrettes to match EVERY outfit and if you were REALLY fancy you added beads to them...oh and the sounds they made when you walked...awesome, but dangerous on windy days.
*Glossing my lips with strawberry roll on lip gloss, till it almost dripped off!
*I knew I would grow up and be a Solid Gold dancer, I still have a few moves...SOLID GOLD!
*Strawberry Shortcake and her friends Blueberry Muffin and Huckleberry Pie, remember they were scented?
*SIMON...now that was a fun game!
*Roller Skates with METAL wheels only to be replaces with shite ones with pink wheels that I wore with leg warmers, layered neon tank tops and an off the shoulder ripped sweat shirt!! Yeah I pretty much rocked that look...and the skating arena.
*Donny and Marie dolls...I love love loved their show too (OH Donny, why didn't you marry ME!?!)
*The Magic 8 Ball knew EVERYTHING the future held (still does, J has a PINK one).
*I remember holding one of these up to the radio to tape record my favorite songs (one New Years Eve my friend Sally and I taped and wrote down the entire top 100 songs of the year down as Casey Kasem counted them down...we cried when "Faith" by George Michael was #1).
*Oh YES that middle pic is ME 1989, I had my feather going on, thanks to Aqua Net in the PINK can and my Clicker (mini butane curling iron....remember those?!!)

On the agenda for my birthday...FREE breakfast at Denny's (it's how I roll), a pedicure, an important (life changing) meeting, a Fishful Thinking conference call with Dr. Karen Reivich, and an evening out with Big Daddy. We are going to my favorite Sushi restaurant in a town near by. I am sure my family has a few little surprises planned for me to....my last birthday was rather uneventful and somewhat craptastic, so I am determined to make the day fun, come what may.
