Jordan brought her class pet chinchilla, Hercules, home for the week off of school (
ski week?, presidents week? shortest month of the year so take a week off week? who knows, she just didn't have school this week). This is pretty special caring for the class pet for a whole week. Hercules has been to our house before but just for the weekend. That post is
HERE. I guess J did such a great job keeping Hercules safe and happy that she was given the responsibility of caring for him for a whole week, and boy has it been thrilling. We are a pet free home, we have tried it but I didn't really grow up with pets and I had a cat and dog as an adult who ruined me for all other animals, they were just that awesome. Jordan is an animal lover, Big Daddy is not. I had thought that the chinchilla was an odd choice of pet but J has fallen in love with this little guy. So we are looking into getting one for her after we move this summer.
Hercules and Jordan have really bonded this week. It seems that every time I walk past her game room she is holding him or he is laying in her lap. It is really sweet to see how gentle and loving she is with him and how Hercules trusts her. She has also been giving him her apple cores and 3 carrot chips a day; breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Last time Hercules came home he visited in his "traveling cage". I wasn't too sure about that cage after her teacher explained that he figured out how to get out of it...uh say what? So i got busy making the cage escape proof...thus also making it harder for J to open and take him out whenever she wanted to play with it. This time he came in his regular big cage so J made room for him in the game room instead of her bedroom like last time.
Anyway here are some super cute pics of Jordan and Hercules and their visit. I am also trying to upload a video, but it seems to be taking forever...so blogger may be having issues right now.

so glad to hear you are better!! those are some cute photos... what a happy pair they make! i hope when you have time you will come check out my 600th post!!!
Isn't that the sweetest...they look like buddies for life! Hercules...what a name for such a tiny creature! Maybe it was his ears that landed the name for him...wow!
Glad to know that you're on the road to recovery!♥
Thanks to you my kids think they need a chinchilla... grrr!
This is to funny my daughter's class had a chinchilla. You noticed I said had. One of her classmates took it home over Christmas break and it died. Her classmates were not very happy with him. I can't remember what they named their chinchilla, but my daughter loved him/her.
I'm glad to see your daughter is taking better care of their chinchilla than my daughter's classmate.
Glad you are feeling better.
J is so sweet with Hercules! He looks like he'd just like to cuddle with her forever too! I am a sucker for anything soft and furry.
Now I want a pet chinchilla! I used to be an intern at the zoo near my hometown and got to touch the chinchilla that they take around to the elementary schools, it was so incredibly soft.
Great job to your daughter for being so responsible and caring for it so well.
He is such a cute little coat.....I mean animal. :)
He's so cute! I love the big ears~
I moved! Come see me at www.aduckinherpond.com.
dang I can't get the video to play. It's me, not you. It goes for like 10 sec and then freezes and won't play the rest.
And again...you are a good mom for letting Hercules spend the week with you. His big cage is pretty phat. Three stories? It's like a little chinchilla condo. Do they have MTV cribs for pets? J could pimp it out over the weekend and add a little fringe. Maybe Hercules is a playah.
So happy to hear that you are feeling better.
having a giveaway on my blog.. Come and check it out.
Chinchillas are very sweet and oh so soft! They were one of my favorite animals to see at the vet clinic I worked at. J looks adorable with Hercules!! Glad to hear she may be getting her own soon!
I had a chinchilla fur trimmed coat when I was younger and it was sooooo soft - I loved that light blue hideous coat! *laughs* I like the live chinchilla so much better - it's ears are too cute!
Your daughter is adorable! :)
Looks like she's having a great time with Hercules :-) One of my daughter's classmates brought a chinchilla in for the day - they are soooo cute and freakishly soft! I bet your J would be an awesome pet mommy :-)
They are cute together! have fun! Glad you feel better!
That video of Jordan is too cute! :) He did look like he was nice and cozy.. Now you guys will definitely have to get her one!
She certainly looks happy with her little friend!
Oooooo...I love chinchillas! My brother used to have one and they are so incredibly soft. I was raised with lots of pets but my husband was not. We have only had fish. It's way past time for a real pet! I'm to the point where I'm going to ask for forgiveness instead of permission.
I love furry little friends but my hubby does not. So I doubt my daughters will get any unless they bring them home from school.
Glad you're feeling better!
Glad you are feeling better. The daughter of a friend of ours had a chinchilla and, you're right, they are so soft--well you just can't imagine it!
awww...i just want to squeeze hercules (not too hard, though, of course). he is so pretty! have fun jordan!
Awe...He's just so cute with those great big ears. It's like having a part-time pet without all the expenses. ;)
Also, glad to hear you're feeling better. :)
