WordFUL Wednesday: Games

SITStahs...scroll down for my Merry SITSmas post!
Every night, after we gather for dinner around the family dining table, we play games. This is my favorite time of the day. I look forward to it. It is the time where we reconnect as a family and have great laughs and good fun. Jordan has really been funny lately, I mean she is always making us laugh, but lately...oh my goodness, SO FUNNY! She has just started getting into the playful trash talking banter that comes with good clean game playing. I love it! I love how she responds when she gets a really big belly laugh from her daddy. It is like the highest compliment she can be paid. I get that, I am really the same way in a lot of respects. I remember being a little girl and my daddy telling me that I was funny. He went on and on about my quick wit and I remember the feeling of pride, like I had seriously accomplished something great! It was awesome! THEN i met my husband and my dad told me I had met my match, that Big Daddy made him laugh. Yep...my match indeed, outmatched is more like it since Big Daddy makes me laugh all the time and is pretty much the funniest person I know. Between him and Jordan and her growing sense of humor life around here is all about the giggles and guffaws. Life is GOOD!!

hmmmm what to play, what to play?

oooh this is a good one!! ooops MY BAD does that card skip you?!
yep, I am so good...hee hee
i love winning!
Uno Spins...a little more complicated!
oh my, not many choices here
let's seeeeee....
oh man, I can't decide!!
aaaah

ok focus!!

who am I kidding, this is a game it's all about the FUN!

We were talking about family traditions a few days ago. I asked Jordan what her favorite family traditions are. She said, "Playing games as a family. I am going to do that with my kids too". This is such a simple, FREE, no brainer...and it has really is one of the things that makes our family close. The laughter, the banter, these are the moments..the ones that matter most!

I used to love Uno as a child. Unfortunately I am an only child and my mother was single and working so trying to get someone to play with me was always a task. But when we had numbers? Watch out now!

angie said...

May I come over and play? I LOVE UNO! :)

OK, you sooo beat me on that one! That was a well deserved win. How did you type so much and still beat me? Wow.

Michele said...

I thought it was going on until 10.
Don't think I can last that long, though! Have a great night!

We lost most of our games this summer with our "big move." I planned to get the kids games for Christmas, and I'm not talking video games!

Chris said...

I heartily agree - some of my favorite moments.

Michelle said...

Oh that's such a great idea! The wee ones love games already, although I HATE H.A.T.E. the Scooby-Doo game that someone gave Mister Man for his birthday this year. Of course that's the one present he loves the most. We ought to institute this... once we no longer go to bed as soon as dinner is over!

I love the fact that you guys play games together all the time! What a fun family! And seriously, I can't wait (okay, I will wait very patiently) for my daughter to grow up and find her sense of humor...even though she already makes us laugh at age three....

Jules said...

Great pic! I love to see families playing together! My kids will drop anything they are doing if I even hint that we'll play a game with them. What can I say.. J just gets it! :)

This is a great post. I love playing games with you guys...especially because it usually involves wonderfully prepared snacks delivered to me by fonzo. You are by far the MOST fun people to play games with and make any game with the family a good time. I don't think I've ever laughed as hard as when we played Apples to Apples with our family. And J makes a fabulous built in babysitter. I don't know how she manages to play with my kids and concentrate on her game at the same time...I can't even do that! Love her. Miss you guys.

OH! I love Uno! ANd I love playing with my family. Well said post! Merry SITSmas!! Thanks for taking the time to visit me.,...so nice of you. I hope you will drop back by. I love new friends.

Thanks! I really thought you would win something, since you entered every prize too.

Oh, question: why were you up for over 24 hours?

I love this post.

My family has been trying really hard to get a family game night started. We are so busy that it can be hard to set a specific day...but I am making it happen. The connection is so important.

Thanks for visiting through this SITS CRAZINESS! Keep coming back!

My Dad and I always played games when I was little and they are some of my best memories. Around 4th or 5th grade my Mom started letting me open one present on Christmas Eve and it was always a game. We would stay up late Christmas Eve playing and enjoying our family. Your daughter is cute and her smile is infectious!

Jen said...

I love game nights. It has been awhile since we had one. I think it is high time.

What a wonderful tradition to have with her...we didn't play a lot of board games, but whenever we did, I loved it! Sounds like Jordan is becoming a lot of fun to be with-her and your hubs sound hilarious!

Thanks for letting me know about my win, too-I'm so happy!

Wow, every night! That is awesome. I am hoping when the kids get older we can do this too. I loved playing cards with my mom when I was little. Who knew you could teach a 4 year old to play gin rummy.

Family traditions are so important and game night is no much fun! The kidlet looks like she's having a great time!

Kelly said...

That is one of my favorite things to do too. I can't wait until my girls are old enough to play the kind of games I like. Not that I don't like playing Candyland etc. But I love Uno, Rummy, word games etc!

Tiffany said...

What a great tradition!

When my kids were small, we played Trouble pretty much non stop. It was especially good because you can even play that game in bed ('cause of the nifty popOmatic dice shaker device and the round holes the pieces fit in).

Now we play Sequence or cards, but it's all good.

What a great family tradition.

Oh fun! When all my kids are old enough to play more than candyland...we shall institute that tradition too! :)

I played three hours of monopoly with my girls this past week, and it amazes me how much they will talk to you when everyone is good and relaxed and having fun! It was awesome!

HeatherY said...

I always loved playing games. Although the only one that would play with me was my Grandma when we visited her in the summer! I plan on playing games with Court when she gets old enough! So much fun!!!
