The girl loves to read. Hallelujah!! It took a while. Mandatory 30 minutes a night for homework helped. Seeing her daddy and I read "for fun" helped. FINALLY, she found a series of books she loved. THEN she found the Traveling Pants books and zipped right through them. When the electricity went out not too long ago, she read by candlelight, for fun. Reading for FUN!! She decided she wanted to start the Harry Potter series. She started the first book tonight. It was time for bed, "Thirty more minutes? I just got into it." YES...for reading 30 more minutes is fine with us!! Don't tell her but we would have let her have an hour. Who needs sleep? She is reading for FUN!! Can I get an Amen? The fun thing for ME has been reading all of the books she is interested in BEFORE she reads them (checking for content, preparing myself for questions, making sure I am able to help with a book report...etc.). I LOVE being able to talk about the books with her. To see her excitement. To answer her questions and to tease her when she asks what is coming up next. No spoiler alerts here darlin'.

Hellooo...
I've looked all over for Mr. Linky and I must be a big lamo - I can't find "him" anywhere. :^(
I've linked to you and my swapper on my blog, though.
Fun!

There's not much that I'm more excited about than the fact that my kids all LIKE to read. There's hope for them yet.
That candle shot is really cool.
I love all the shots of her reading! I hope my kids love to read as much as J does!
A sweet, pretty daughter you have there. I like the fact that children loves books more than browsing on their computers. My daughter loves reading but she's not yet over middle school books but it's fun, yes. :)
Yea Jordan!!! Cassie loved those books also!!
I can't wait until my son gets old enough for HP. I am a nut and in love with them.
Yeah to J for loving books! It is a gift to love to read and I hope my kids get my reading bug too!
that is wonderful...
"Reading is the Magic key..
To take you where you want to be."
I hope all my kids get bitten by the reading bug...I am a big time reader myself and would wonder what I did wrong if they didn't at least LIKE it! :)
I want my children to LOVE to read too
I'm glad you read the pants books too, so you could talk with her about them. I just read them all 2 weeks ago and was surprised at some of the content for a young adult book.
Can you believe how much things have changed in the last few years? she loves to read. You have changed that girls life in so many good ways. You are such an amazing mom. J is very very lucky!
Your letters are so funny. I'm sorry about your thumb...that looks really painful...and kind of nasty, but that's the kind of karma I get for posting pics of poop and vomit on my blog.
Jen got her package yesterday...i can't wait to get mine!!!
She is such a beautiful girl!
That's great that she has found a series of books to read. I have to admit, it's hard nowadays. I read everything when it I was that age, but now I can't get my teenage step daughter to read anything. We finally compromised on the twilight series, which I then read too. ;) Hope it continues.
I want those penguin pajama pants!!!! I'm reading sisterhood books too! They're so cute!
I can't wait until my younger two find that reading is fun!
Go J!
Darn,no Rachel do exposed! :)
Don't you love it when you kids love to read? It is so satisfying.
Awesome that she loves to read so much!
I must admit (Let me hide the teacher shame) that I usually choose TV over books. Ok almost always! Anyway, I love the Harry Potter series and will often choose that over TV. My theory is, as long as it's not bad, reading anything is better than reading nothing. Especially for struggling readers.
YAY Jordan! I believe your world is alive when you love to read. I LOVE to read too! I love that my boys really enjoy books. My oldest finished the entire Harry Potter series @ the end of 2nd grade & looked @ me & said "Now What"? I wsan't sure he'd eer read anything else-LOL!
Happy reading!
Kaia is a reader too...and I couldn't be happier! One night before bed, we were going through her "Coke or Pepsi" book {it's one of those books that you do with a friend and answer either/or questions}. Imagine my surprise/horror when the question was "do you start at the beginning of the book...or read the last paragraph first?" and she said she always reads the last page first. I never have done that and never will. I think I have her convinced to never do it again either! But I, too, am so happy she is a reader!
There are some great series through Desert Books for Jordan's age too!
