Cooking with Jordan! episode 14 Faux Sushi

Time for another episode of Cooking with Jordan. The whole point of the cooking lessons for J is to show her some basic easy meals, teach her how to plan a menu, learn how to follow a recipe and help her become more comfortable in the kitchen...this is not anything totally gourmet or culinary school worthy. We hope you enjoy Cooking With Jordan and try these recipes with your kids. They are totally J approved! This episode is one of J's all time favorite snacks. Faux Sushi. J loves Sushi, the real thing, especially unagi (eel). Most kids aren't into the real thing. When she wanted me to serve it as a snack at her birthday party a few years ago I had to get creative. So I made Faux Sushi CANDY, she fell in love with it and we have been making it together ever since. Here is how it is done:

Faux Sushi

Open 6 Green Apple Fruit Roll Ups. Lay on parchment (or waxed) paper shiny side up. melt 1/4 cup butter on stovetop stir continuously

add 5 cups of marshmallows to butter one cup at a time stir continuously until all marshmallows are smooth and blended well with butter

pour 6 cups of crispy rice cereal into large buttered bowl add melted marshmallows to crispy rice and mix well.

butter, washed hands (J found this VERY funny) it will help make the marshmallow crispies not stick to fingers as you put the Faux Sushi together. place small amount of marshmallow crispies in center of roll up

add 2 red licorice vines (if you can find them in different colors I think they are prettier in 3's like a red, yellow and orange looks awesome)

cover vines with more marshmallow crispies

wrap marshmallow crispies and red vines in roll up

repeat process 5 more times

if roll doesn't want to stick together try dipping your finger in water and running it along the shiny side of roll up and press together.

slice Faux Sushi Roll into pieces

enjoy picking them up and eating them with chopsticks
