Last Summer was Jordan's second year taking horse back riding lessons.
She LOVES horses and really has a special way with them. It is amazing to watch her handle a horse. She exudes such control and confidence and trust that the horse is not only listening to her commands but also respecting her. It. Is. Amazing. These pics are old. I need new ones of her with the horses. But I was thinking today about her gentle way with people, animals, babies and any other living thing. I was reminded of how impressed I am that she is able to handle such a large creature in such a beautiful, kind, respectful and loving way. I think she gets it. It also made me think of what a great kid she is. She never balks or complains about a house rule or when we ask her to do something. I think she understands our parenting style and respects it. Having an opportunity to be responsible of directing or guiding her horse or a child in her care has taught her that when she asks something of them it is out of a need or through love or safety. Why else would she ask them to do something? She has a reason
after all. THAT made me want to pat myself and my
hubz on the back a little. She learned those "parenting"
techniques from US! Very cool to see them put to such use in such a beautiful, kind, respectful and loving way.

Horses kind of scare me, so I am amazed how at ease my girls are around them. Cute pictures!
Good job Mama!
Taxi...very cute name.
Good job to both of you for raising such a responsible little girl!
How lucky she is to have a horse :)
Jordan does not own this horse. It is one of the many horses she is lucky enough to ride when she takes lessons.
You do deserve a pat on the back and she looks beautiful with the horse. I think a respect for large animals (or any animals) is such a great lesson for children and adults!
A magical WW to you!
I LOVE horses -I grew up on a farm, so rode horses in shows and had a fabulous time. I'm so happy J is loving horses as well. You speak such wonderful loving words of your daughter. You two have an amazing relationship! Well done Momma is right!!
Looks like a nice day for a ride.
Clicking in through SITS :)
WOW-she looks so calm and comfortable with those horses! I am amazed as I wouldn't come within 10 feet of a horse-but then again I'm a big chicken!
Great job Mama with J--she really is a totally awesome kid! whoohoo for you!
We are looking into getting some horses in the near future. I LOVE the name!!
you need to post a the video of her doing the tricks!
Wow I can't believe how much she has grown up!
I think she's about as perfect as they come. :)
YOu are very lucky to have such a 'grown' young lady on your hands. The photos are very nice :D
My dd loves horses too! I think its a great thing to learn and enjoy!
I love the pictures! What a responsible girl you have!
Riding horses is a lot of fun, but I am allergic to them!! They are beautiful animals though...
I haven't been on a horse since I was about seven. Big animals scare me...no matter how pretty and doe-eyed they are!
But. Jordan is one lucky kid. Gracie, I'm sure would love to take lessons!
I loveee horses. I took lessons around her age as well.
Great pictures! You can just feel the love coming through :)
Happy WW!
That's something I've never done--ride horses. Looks fun!
How sweet. Harses, Harses, Harses...the singing line from Sleepless in Seatle--Meg Ryan in the car singing along...oh forget it!
I LOVE that you called that 'VANITY Sizing". I linked you about it and all!
thanks for the pop rocks! I'm afraid to eat them until there is less of a likelihood I will throw them up. Was it you or amy that puked up the grape pop rocks on the way to MiMa's and they were still popping in the puke? Gross.
i love horses!! i rode for 5 years when i was younger like jordan!!
That is so cool...I LOVE horses also, so I'm envious of her now! :)
And you know the horse senses that she loves it. Just like most animals know. What a good girl you've raised...nice work mom and dad!
I love Horses. They are so beautiful and regal. When I was younger.. I didn't think there was anything better than being let on an open field...
She's a good girl - you should be very proud.

Parents and animals are the best teachers I think! Jordan is a sweet girl and Taxi is pretty gorgeous too! Then again I think all Jordans are sweet girls, mine is too!!
Ok if I ever get another horse, I am totally naming it Taxi! That is the best name ever!!!! Great experiences and great pics for J!
This is so sweet! I love stuff from the archives! The swap looks like too much fun!
Awwwwwwww I love horses! Actually riding one scares me sometimes though. I always think of Christopher Reeves. I know I shouldn't. They are such gorgeous animals. ;-)
~melody~
We need people like Jordan who loves animals to balance out all of us who don't!
Good for you for patting yourself on the back. If you hadn't...I would have!
I think Kaia would have grown up to be just like Jordan if we hadn't added her younger brother to the mix. He irritates her to no end some days and I always say...."what happened to my sweet little angel that always just said 'ok mommy'!"
ENJOY! Jordan is amazing and I love your connection with her.
Thanks for the Birthday wishes! I really appreciate it.
Great pics!!
Looking forward to looking in on you again!
Jay
sooo much fun! i wanna get on taxi and take a ride myself!
I am partial to ANYTHING horse related and Taxi is BEAUTIFUL!
She is so sweet. I love the pictures of her combing Taxi's mane. I love that name by the way!
Something about kids and horses - they are magnets for kids, really...which is weird really - you would think kids would be freaked out about how massive they are! I was bucked off one though....so I'm not one to talk :-)
thanks for the nice comment the other day - you made me smile.
I love this post! There is something magical in the pics.
In HS a date took me horseback riding before the the dance. On the drive home I was covered in hives where my skin had touched the horse and my eyes were swollen shut. Not a fun way or time to learn you are allergic to horses. :)
