Jordan loves to bake. I am not a baker. I love to cook and share that love with her as much as I can... You have seen the Cooking With Jordan Episodes we will continue posting those often. I AM hoping to distract the girl and bring her over to the cooking side, she loves to cook, but the girl also STILL loves to bake. My skills in this area are seriously lacking. I have learned a few tricks. Cake Mix Cookies is one of them. So far it's working. She considers this real baking. I know it won't last forever, but she is happy "baking" up a storm in my kitchen. I am able to keep her well stocked in "ingredients" from the pantry and fridge and it's a win/win. It is not a big mess maker (one bowl & 2 beaters). Everyone is happy...especially Big Daddy, who loves eating the "baked" goodness! Ya know it is also so easy that she can be let loose to do her thing...I think that's a good boost for her self esteem. SUCCESS!!
We started making Cookie Mix cookies HERE for her bake sale that was a HUGE success.

Once cake mix...any flavor plus 1/3 cup of vegetable oil
Roll the "dough" balls in powdered sugar place on baking sheet. bake @ 350 for 10 min.
Enjoy the goodness!
I do not have pics of the finished product...it was a sleepover...I let them loose to do their thing, plus there was Big Daddy helping out. The box makes about 18...I think, of course it depends on the size of your balls (that's what she said).
We have used Lemon...my fave, Strawberry and Spice cake. Spice cake is awesome with some thinned out cream cheese frosting drizzled over the top like a glaze...oh the Fall goodness!
OH and the girls also made a really fun Fall craft...I will be sharing that tomorrow!!

That's what she said! That joke will NEVER not be funny to me.
I've got a GREAT cake mix recipe involving cream cheese. When I'm not feeling lazy, I'll email it to you.
But I'm going to have to try out Jordan's recipe!
Yay. I was first. But that means I was up too late!
Dentist appt. at 8:00 a.m. Yikes. It's not going to be fun getting up for that!
Even if it comes out from a box, it is still baking.
Sounds like the girls had a great time.
Now that's my kind of baking!! WOOHOO THanks J for the recipe!
Cake mix cookies? YUM! I tried cake mix ice cream.. oh my goodness it tastes just like the real thing!
OH yum! That sounds delicious :D
my kids like making these too! they are so easy and yummy!
Sounds like a recipe I could actually manage! Thanks!
By the way, I am amazed at how well you keep up with the blogging thing - I have no idea how you do it!!
I haven't heard of these before you guys...they "look" great! And by "look" I mean the picture I am getting in my head after reading how to make them!
MMMM MMMM Good! My kids love to bake, too!
It's totally still baking. My favorite is the chocolate cake mix with white or peanut butter chips. Try using a sick of butter instead of 1/3 cup of oil. Same result...but with butter flava. Mmmmm.
Sour cream cake with M&M's or other candies in it is a another hit with the kids.
Who is J's friend. she's darling!
Love that shirt, J ;o.
heavenly day! love that she likes to do it , and you don't have to . YUMMY!
perfect slumber party activity!
Yummy! I am going to have to try this recipe!! The girls look like they are having all sorts of fun! :)
cake mix cookies sound yummy. looks like they had a fun sleepover.
Mmmm yum I'll have to try those! :)
Yea for Cake Mix Cookies!! i love those. Sometimes I through in some chocolate chips too. Yummy!
I haven't made cake batter cookies before. Sounds like something yummy to make for an up coming bake sale at school!
I figure if you turn on the oven....even if nothing EVER goes inside of it....It's still baking! Heck you pushed that button that says "bake" right! Besides it makes the kitchen toasty warm...BONUS!
Oh good gravy, woman, now I have to go make these cookies!!
Hehe looks like they had lots of fun. Glad they were a hit.
Congrats on your awards. (yep, it takes me a while sometimes but I do get to things. eventually).
I love cake mix cookies. Chocolate ones especially, with lots of chocolate chips! Yum, are you making recipe cards for all of these recipes she is making? That would be a great present for her someday, oh maybe a blurb of these segments.
i love to bak and this looks deeeee-lish!
Yum those sound delicious in strawberry!
I LOVE this recipe...I can actually make cookies without messing them up!!
Oh, and some icecream sandwiched between two devil's food cake mix cookies....YUMMMMMMM.
We love these my girls like the Cherry Chip cake mix with maraschino cherrys for a mix in.
Haha holy crap... "That's what she said"
You keeel me!!!
Love the beater lickers picture! You are such a good mom!!!
I'm pretty sure she is more of an advanced baker than I am. I just made some pilsbury cookies (The kind that is already made, you just place on pan and pop in oven) and I forgot that they were in the oven!! (That may have been due to blogging, but whatever). Um, they're pretty crunchy.
This recipe sounds good, I want to try! Does the "dough" get really mushy though? I make box cakes all the time and the stuff is really liquidy.
