Random stuff...

I have had a busy week. Fine tuning the final details for J's13 Bithday Party has been a lot of fun but a lot of work. I just want it to be a night to remember for her and her girlfriends. I am trying to make sure i don't miss a single detail down to the last bit of glitter and confetti. I spoke with a couple of the girl's she invited moms today, they report that their girls are over the moon excited about the upcoming event...this makes me VERY happy! Today J said, "My friends all think it's really fun that they know what we are doing for my birthday but i don't." For a minute i thought about just telling her so she would have something to look forward to. So i asked her if she wanted to know. She said, "No WAY! I love surprises!" I asked again if she was sure and asked if it might be more fun to know and have something to think about and look forward to. She said, "I am looking forward to being surprised, and my friends say it's going to be cool. No would rather be surprised, I love surprises!" I am glad she wants to be surprised, i love surprising her.

Today we went through J's closet and drawers to take out everything that was too small or getting too small. We spent a good hour trying on clothes and reminiscing about special outfits and some of the fun clothes she has bught to match her BFF Emma. I did a post about SOME of their matchy poo outfits HERE ! We decided to put away a few special items to use in a patch work quilt in a couple of years. I am thinking it would be a really fun Sweet 16 gift (yes, i am already thinking about it). Anyway it was a lot of fun watching her try on a gazillion outfits and have a few giggles as we took a long walk down memory lane. We have 2 HUGE bags to take down to the consignment shop tomorrow AND her closet is STILL full.

She is growing into such a lovely young lady. I love our quiet moments where we can just talk and solve all the worlds problems together...oh if only more people could be as amazing as this little girl. She has some pretty incredible ideas about the world and how it works and i LOVE when she allows me to sit and listen and bask in her awesomeness!

Well that's about all that i have to report right now. I hope your week is going well...OH my sister Meg wrote the funniest post on her blog today. If you are an avid scrapbooker you may find it especially amusing! She makes me laugh...and their are cute pics of her adorable girls.

I got chills reading your post! We do need to listen to our young people more often! I need to get through Princess's closet too. We are having a mommy/daughter shopping trip on Saturday and I want to have some room for our finds! :)

I admire the respect and consideration that you give to J and her ideas! You are so awesome. It's that listening and confiding that will be the cement in your relationship. Your fabulous parties and fun stuff are just the icing on top! You are a wonderful Mom.

I've missed you guys. I love cleaning out the closet. That's cool she wants to be surprised. I like the phrase "bask in her pure awesomeness"-- I know what you mean.

Quiet time? What I wouldn't give for a little quiet time and chats right now. I'd love to go lock myself in my room, but hubby is still in Denver. So, my "quiet talk" is Diva whining at me right now.

Oh, wait, that wasn't the purpose of your post. Isn't it funny how we can pick up on the strangest things of what someone writes? Looking forward to party updates!

I tell you what....you are one heck of a momma!

I wish I had your zeal and pep!

Sometimes I worry that my kids suffer because I am spent from working with kids all day!

Then I remember they are spoiled to death and I get over myself! :)

Okay, so I finally have a few minutes in my hectic week to breathe and get caught up on reading blogs yet again. Where do I start??

First of all -- LOVE the plans for the birthday party. I wish I was coming!!! Those girls are going to have so much fun, and J will be tickled pink at her grand surprise. You totally rock, girl!

Secondly -- how fun with the trying on clothes and reminiscing. It sounds like a special time that you shared together, and SUCH a great idea about the quilt for sweet sixteen...

And finally -- who WOULDN'T want to stop by your awesome neighborhood party?!? If you lived on my street, I'd be banging down your door just to meet you (and not just because of your pool)!!

I'm so excited for her about her party. She is going to have so much fun!

And I can't believe that she wants it to remain a surprise! I couldn't handle the suspense!

I love surprises, kind of. I only like postponing the moment if I know it will be a good one. And since her friends are all geared up, I can see why she would want to wait! Make sure Mamarazzi is standing there to catch the first response. I wanna see it!

So sweet. I have till next summer to think about the 13th b-day party. Sounds like you both enjoyed the "fashion show."

I went over to see your sister since I'm a scrapper. That was a great post!
