We ALL Scream for ICE CREAM!!!
At the beginning of the summer i entered a contest to win a neighborhood block party sponsored by Dreyers Slow Churned Ice Cream. You can read about the contest details HERE.
Anyway you enter by writing a few words about why your neighborhood should be selected as one of neighborhoods to win. My letter was along the lines of: "We have lived in this neighborhood for 2 years. We don't know ANY of our neighbors and that is totally sad, because basically WE ROCK and they need to know us. So an ice cream party would be a good excuse to get everyone together and allow them to bask in our pure awesomeness." (OK that's probably exactly what it said...) I entered thinking there was no way i could ever win, but i DID!! The other day our "Party in a Box" arrived and they sent everything we need to host the party in our FRONT yard. (..umm yea, no strangers in the pool please)

they also sent tons of paper bowls, spoons, plastic scoops, napkins, table clothes, wet wipes, name tags, a sign for the yard and a disposable camera ( i will hand that over to Jordan for her perspective of the party). Pretty much everything we will need to make the party happen.
They also sent little invites to hang on peoples doors. On the day of the party Dreyers will deliver 12 gallons of slow churned ice cream and 4 boxes of ice cream bars. They even sent us gift certificates for more ice cream, bars and frozen doggy treats for the canine in the neighborhood...sweet huh!? And a bunch of coupons for us to pass out too...awesome!
I am not all together sure if the people in this neighborhood will actually come together soooo we are also having Jordan's family birthday party that day. That's a whole lot of ice cream for a no show, ya know? ALSO if you live locally and like we "know" each other send me an email and i will let you know where to find us...the more the merrier!!! OR just come pick up some free ice cream.

How fun is that??? I bet you will make fast friends with your neighbors if they hear you are serving icecream. i love icecream but i will have to pass. I am part of a "race for a waist" challenge right now. I am actually down 5 lbs.. Woot Woot! Eat a scoop for me!

That much ice cream is like a dream come true! You should toss the invites, invest in a deep freezer and keep that ice cream for months!

How fun! So exciting. That's a LOT of ice cream! I agree--too much to risk a no-show. I hope lots of neighbors show up! We couldn't ever do anything like that; we have one house next door, and the next closest neighbor is a quarter of a mile away. yikes! No block parties for us!
