Cooking with Jordan! episode 8 Cheeseburger Pie

Time for another episode of Cooking with Jordan. You can view earlier episodes by clicking on these links Preview, OneDishMexican, GrilledChicken, Cooking(?) with Daddy, TortelliniSoup , TeriyakiChicken, BuffaloChickenBites, ParmesanChickenPastaWithBroccoli and GarbageCasserole. The whole point of the cooking lessons for J is to show her some basic easy meals, plan a menu, learn how to follow a recipe and help her become more comfortable in the kitchen...this is not anything totally gourmet or culinary school worthy. On tonight's menu: Cheeseburger Pie, super easy, super yummy...your kids will love it!

Cheeseburger Pie...YUM!! one onion chopped 1 lb ground beef browned with chopped onion and seasonings
put beef mixture in sprayed glass pie plate
sprinkle with 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
mix 2 eggs, 1/2 cp Bisquick and 1 cp milk with wire whisk oh she is adorable when she is whisking! pour Bisquick mixture over beef in pie plate
bake @400 for 25 min or until knife inserted in center of pie comes out clean
YUMMY!!

we made up 2 Cheeseburger Pies because it's an easy one to double AND because the leftovers are super yummy! This is also a good recipe for hiding veggies (sweet peas, finely chopped broccoli, corn, etc.)

y'all...i am soooo behind on my blog reading. i need to cut back a little, i can't keep up and well...i feel a little guilty. i promise i will stop by, but i cannot promise a comment on EVERY post and also had to stop replying to comments via email for a while. Summer is here, my family deserves my time. I KNOW y'all understand, right?!

I have the same problem as you. Summer IS so busy and it's hard to stay caught up on blogs.

I love that you teach Jordan to cook. Her roommates will LOVE it when she goes to college.

One of my roommates had never even boiled water before. But that was the least of her problems, because she had never cleaned a toilet either. That was NOT a fun semester!

Oh Yum! I love it with sauteed green chiles, onions, sausage, and cheddar!

I'm passing some bloggy bling back your way!

Don't worry about the not being by all the time. We understand. Family first. While blogging is great- we have real live families there that we must care for. Enjoy summer and enjoy them!

Anyway- that looks yummy! I think I am going to have to copy that recipes down and give it a try.

That does sound good! I'm going to have to try that out.

Looks yummy! I'll have to try this minus the onion. My hubby is super fussy but he loooves cheeseburgers!

Looks like something my kids might eat!! Woo Hoo!!

Can Jordan come over and chop onions for me? She looks way more efficient in that department than I am...

That blog guilt is killer, isn't it? I finally had to limit my blogging to mornings and late nights (for the most part) and only post on certain days. Other than that I just had to let it go. It helped.

That looks delicious!

I can totally relate with the whole blog guilt thing, but YES we all understand, so try not to beat yourself up about it. FAMILY FIRST!!

I found that I have to literally turn my computer off so I won't sit at the computer and then realize hours have rolled by :)

I think I've made this before but I can't remember how it was received. I'll have to try it again and let MA make it.

You obviously have never tried to sneak food past MY family. None of those little tricks work. Neither does dressing asparagus up like a cute little guy. It's still asparagus. My kids aren't eating it! I on the otherhand, will. :)

What a great recipe! I'm sure my family will love it. Thanks for sharing!

That looks delicious. Next time Jordan is in TX she can cook for my family!

Oh wow, do I understand! I LOVES me some summer! And the computer is low on my list of ways to spend my time right now. Don't sweat it, Sister!!! J is so cute...I love the way you're preparing her to cook for herself. And she seems to love it as evidenced by the big smiles on her face!

Hi!!

I'm back from France and saw the love you left for me in your blog! Thanks so much!

I love "Cooking with Jordan". Have you ever thought about submitting one of her recipes on my website? Just click on contact us. We are taping several France recipes coming up this summer, but in the future if one of her recipes is chosen for a segment, she can win a prize.

Check it out!

A challenge for Jordan's next meal:

Healthy cooking is an important part of learning, so I want to see what you can make that will have less than 600 calories and 20 grams of fat.

I also want it to include the following:

Pick at least three -
Celery
Onion
Bell Pepper
Tomato (in what ever form you want)
Avocado (be careful how much you use.)
Carrots
Artichokes
Asparagus
Zucchini
Black Beans

Pick only one (or none):

Turkey
Chicken (white meat)
Extra Lean Beef (try sirlion for a leaner cut)

Hint: If you need help with how nutritious each thing is, either check the packaging, or look it up on calorieking.com.

Can't wait to see what you come up with. Maybe we'll be able to try it at our house.

Good Luck.

This sounds sooooo yummy! My kids will love it . . . and it's a perfect thing for them to make since they love love love to cook :-)

I hear ya on summer . . . even if we're not "schedule" busy, we're always busy - playing on the trampoline, playing games, playing catch, riding bike, hiking . . . doing whatever it is that we do during the summer.

I hope you have a wonderful summer with the fam!

Scott the nutritionals for this recipe are:

1 Serving: Calories 325 (Calories from Fat 190 ); Total Fat 21 g (Saturated Fat 10 g); Cholesterol 135 mg;

the next time we make it we are going to add salsa or BBQ sauce. but it was pretty yum like we made it. i also think it would be good with zuchinni.

we typically TRY to make healthy choices food wise. but like i say at the top of every cooking with Jordan post:

The whole point of the cooking lessons for J is to show her some basic easy meals, plan a menu, learn how to follow a recipe and help her become more comfortable in the kitchen...this is not anything totally gourmet or culinary school worthy.

we DO accept your challenge and will be posting the results next week.

(you can easily go back in the archives and check but i don't think we have made anything close to 600 calories)
