Cooking with Jordan! episode 7 Garbage Casserole

Time for another episode of Cooking with Jordan. You can view earlier episodes by clicking on these links Preview, OneDishMexican, GrilledChicken, Cooking(?) with Daddy, TortelliniSoup , TeriyakiChicken, BuffaloChickenBites, ParmesanChickenPastaWithBroccoli. The whole point of the cooking lessons for J is to show her some basic easy meals, plan a menu, learn how to follow a recipe and help her become more comfortable in the kitchen...this is not anything totally gourmet or culinary school worthy. In this episode "Garbage Casserole". Sounds delicious right? It's something my mom made up when we were kids. To me it is comfort food and most def something that i needed to pass on to my daughter. Jordan LOVES this stuff, your kids will too, i promise! (i found this post in my drafts, it is from a while back...long before the new floor).

LOVE these posts!
I make something similar (and LOVE those super easy instant potatoes from Costco) I brown the beef (or ground turkey), then add onions and 1-2 cups of pasta sauce. Put it in a 9x13 pan, cover with frozen veggies (mixed, green beans, corn, whatever), cover w/the potatoes, sprinkle w/cheese and bake in the oven for 20 minutes. You know, since you asked, lol. ;)

She does a great job, and I know I've mentioned how great you are at photography and how photogenic she is. The meal sounds yummy!

You know, I really want J to stay little for as long as possible, but there is a part of me that can't wait to have moments like this!

We used to eat something like that when I was a kids but we didn't call it that. I had completely forgotten about it and now I am going to make it for my kids this week. Thanks :)

this is one of my kids favorite meal-but I presonally can't stand it. They get so excited when I cook it and I am always so disappointed cause I am a pretty decent cook and what do they choose to love, the thrown together meal. But I agree, this is an essentail one to teach you child to learn to cook, it gets in protein and lots of veggies all in one meal. I love that you do cooking lessons. I want my kids to feel comfortable in the kitchen. What a great mom you are.

we also had something similar to this when I was a kid. My mom called it Shepherd's Pie and the potatoes went on top!
I love these cooking segments! Gives me good ideas!
