I love your sharpness and the way you cut through apples with ease. I love the way you have perfectly sliced and cored apples in our home since I purchased you last July (thanks for talking me into it Meg). I love being able to send perfectly sliced and cored apples in Jordan's lunch every day. I really love that most of the time it is Paul who uses you with such precision and grace. But yesterday, when it was me making J's lunch for the day and the very last bit of the apple got stuck i did not like that you decided to slice a huge chunk out of my thumb, and i mean a chunk...as in all the way off, with no chance of stitching to repair. I did not like how i just bled and bled and how much pain i have been in ever since. I don't like how every time i go to change the band aide on my thumb that it removes the scab and starts bleeding all over again. I do realize my darling Pampered Chef Apple Slicer that there is such thing as user error...however, this REALLY sucks. A lot. My thumb seriously hurts. A lot.
Sincerely,
Girl typing with a serious "limp"
PS i will not be using you anymore. I realize you and i are not a good match...it's not you, it's me.

Ouch!!! that is one of my fears when I use my apple slicer. Take good care of it it looks bad. Check out chrissy's window I posted some love for ya.
Holy freaking ouch!!! That looks horrible! I can't imagine the pain.
I would have been the one, walking into the ER, with my fingertip in a sandwich baggie, yelling, "PUT IT BACK OOOOONNNN!"
I'm a little light-headed looking at that. No, I could never be a nurse. Yuck.
Holy cow - I did the same thing with mine! My poor thumb was MIA for a while after that encounter. I hope yours gets better fast!!
Ouch! You know you can buy apples already slices in most grocery stores produce section. Might I suggest you spend a little more and save your remaining limbs...
that looks like it hurt.. i am soooo sorry!!
YOWZA!!!!! YEEK!
Heal well my friend!
Oh I hope you feel better soon! I have one from the dollar store and I don't think it is sharp enough to do that.
AAAAAaaaaaahhhhh!! oh no!!
Yikes. I'll be sure to be super careful when I use mine.
I have had it for 8 years and no peel off fingers yet =:O
I feel a special bond with you right now sis. I not only almost cut off my entire finer with an apple corer when I was a kid, but a while back I cut off a similar sized chunk of my thumb in the excact same spot while building a model last year. I know how bad it stings, and how annoying it is.
Hang in there thumb buddy.
I've cut myself on the Pampered Chef apple slicer, too, but not that bad! You poor thing.
Hah! Love the post script! And OUCH! Holy Cored Thumb! But I have to tell you, probably a good thing it was a clean slice off - my Mom tried to stick a lump back on one time. Cleverly and carefully taped it in place with the bandaid. It grew together. Looked like a big wart on her finger. It would have healed more smoothly with out the extra chunk. Not pretty.
Worse still, the thought of slicing the severed piece the rest of the way off - Nearly Thumbless Nick.
HOLY MOLY!!! OUCH FREAKING OUCH!!! I'm sorry that happened. I've had to part with some friendly kitchen items for the same reason. The potato peeler (one that I love) decided he didn't love me and attacked me one day! How dare he? He was kicked out of the house!! :)
Hope it heals soon!!
OUCH!
OUCH! EEEK! That freaked me out. I will NEVER use one of those. UGH! I'm with Karen...light headed..have to lay down now...
OH, ouch! I love my PC apple peeler, but I've never had an accident with it. ONe of the few kitchen things that hasn't bit me at one time or another. Take care of that thumb.
ow,ow,ow,ow,ow! OUCH! it got you! horrible! i have the old version of that one. i like it fine. NO GOOD! now i admit i do have issue with my cutco knives, chopping my finger off on occasion. that rots. and now i live in chronic fear, of slicing something off. OuCH and typing with a limp that hurts.
Oh, no you did NOT do that to your poor thumb!!!! OUCH!!
I love my apple corer -- although it is not pampered chef -- and have never been nervous about slicing off parts of my fingers...but now I will be!!!
ps: i love your fingernails, by the way!
Oh my goodness, you are such a funny thing! How do you write in such a witty way? But I am really sorry about your painful thumb...that apple corer deserves your anger, HolleeAnn!

OUCH I'm sorry that happened to you! I remember one time my friend used their slicer thingy. She was slicing a tomato and when it got to jut a little left she sliced off the little tips of her fingers! TMI but maybe their stuff should come with a warning label! I go with the "buy the pre-sliced ones" theory or make J eat blueberries. lol
That's pretty impressive. I don't know how you pulled it off. I have done that on more than one occasion with the chef knife, but I always thought the apple wedger was safe.
Yikes! I've been pining for the PC apple slicer (I have a generic Target one that works great, but only does 6 "larger" slices). Maybe I should reconsider! lol
OWWWWWWW! Looks painful!I have used that slicer before & did some damage to a finger too. I hope your finger heals quickly!
ouch, that doesn't look pleasant! I have a hard time using it as well, in fact I usually just cut the apples with a regular knife, you get more out of them that way anyway. :) Coincidentally Steve uses it just fine and has never had a problem. Men.
ouch!!!
Good Grief, HolleeAnn! That looks very painful. I am sure it's better now-TWO WEEKS later. I am so embarrassed I haven't commented.
