Thursday Thirteen #4

More Thursday Thirteen HERE

13 things I learned while “trying out” a Co-Ed gym this week.
(i am a CURVES girl checking out InShape)

13. People are often comfortable enough to carry on a conversation with you while they are totally nude and toweling off. AWKWARD!!
12. The steam room after water aerobics is NOTHING like Sex in the City…there are often more blue haired little old ladies in there than chicks talking about their “racks”.
11. You run into LOTS of people you know, but haven’t seen for a while, looking your sweatiest worst…why why whyyyyy?
10. People make REALLY interesting sounds when lifting weights, and one guy made me really uncomfortable.
9. Water Aerobics…a really good workout, who knew? i mean besides the blue hairs?
8. I have been getting a full nights sleep for like 3 days now…that NEVER happens.
7. After a good work out I am super horny, like WAY more than usual. I know TMI, but…
6. I have a greater appreciation an all female “gym” like Curves. I feel like the equipment is made for me, I like my curves and I to see people who look like me and my chubbylicious sexy self there.
5. Working out with a friend is a new thing for me and I loved it. I felt more accountable and had fun with EMILIE!! Thanks Em.
4. I had energy to do things that I have been putting off…like organizing my garage!! Woo hoo!!! Oh and thanks honey for helping me, i know you didn't want to.
3. There is a sexual energy pulsating though out the gym…it’s invigorating and embarrassing all at the same time.
2. I look super cute with pigtails…yep, adorable even.
1. I am not the badass I thought I was and I am feeling it all now!

I go to the Y (co-ed). A little less "pressure" than, say, 24 hour fitness or Bally's. I have wanted to check out Curves. Everyone says it works, and you don't have the slightly embarrassing moments you do at a co-ed gym. I like to go in, work out, get out. But I have had a cold for a MONTH now, so I'll be glad to get back to it.

As someone who loves to workout, a certified personal trainer (not currently practicing, but still certified) and someone who lifts weights, I can share that the truth about all those dorky grunts is, the people making those noises are more about, "look at me and how much I'm lifting," than needing to grunt because it's a heavy weight.

Don't let em fool ya. Most of the people there are either working hard to stay, or get in shape, or too into themselves to notice you. Which is a good thing. Cause you're not interested in the people who are there to look hot either :)

working out with a friend is the best. I can even get up super early and go to the gym if someone is meeting me there. It really is all about accountability. If we both know the other person is expecting us... we won't miss it!

This post really made me laugh, by the way.

Hey, good for you!!!! And you're encouraging me to get on the treadmill this morning!

By the way, thanks so much for all your support over the last couple of days. I appreciate it more than you can know!!

I love Curves for that very reason...we are all shapes and sizes, and no pressure...and no guys gawking!

Love, love, love your TT - you are a riot! So nice to meet you and the poll - good idea. I've often wondered this myself and have always visited and commented another's site if they visit mine. I even email back if there's a question and an address. The poll though shockingly says "no need to reply" is tied with "reply via comment"! That's sad. People. People. Hey, let's visit each other often. You're a blast. btw: name is Rhonda. pseudonym: Chuck. why not? happy tt and thx for the visit.

Loved the comments in the list. Thanks for a chuckle this morning. if I was the gym type, I'd probably pick Curves over any of the others for similar reasons.

Happy TT!

Why is it we run into people we haven't seen in ages when we LOOK OUR WORST?!? I hate that. I loved your list. It made me laugh.

#7 explains a lot in my house....maybe that's why....
LOL
I love my gym and I love that I go home and shower and never, ever, ever do it in a locker room. (Although if I wanted to shower there...why? it's only 2 minutes from my house...they have private bathrooms/showers)

I LOVE YOU! I think you've brought the motivation back for me to get my arse to the gym. I was SO diligent last year. This year has been plagued w/illnesses and laziness (blah blah blah). Thank you! I just wish we lived near each other so I could join your working out fun.

This post cracked me up!!! I need to be motivated and work out! Even with all you said, I'm still motivated! I need #5 so I can be accountable! Again, this post was hilarious!

Oh and THANK you so much for your sweet comment and everything with my throat went well. THANKS AGAIN!

Oh I miss my gym days so much! It's so fun to work out with a partner and trust me most people are too busy working out to notice you:)

Oh and who doesn't look super cute in ponytails? what age is too old btw? I feel maybe I am? But I continue to wear them. hmmmmm.

You are more sensitive to energy in the air than me. I never notice those things. But you make miss really miss my gym. I don't belong anymore because of money, but when I belonged, I went 4-5 times a week religiously. Good for you for doing it!

Ok, your #7 seriously made me LOL. OH, I know what you mean about the sounds at the gym. Sometimes they are downright FREAKY. I wish the gym did for me what it does for you. DH would sure be happier if it did!

I used to go to a co-ed gym when I was still single and I can relate to #3.

As with #3, my imagination is working double time now. :-)
