The Aloha Lounge aka J's game room

As i stated in the post below (See "You asked for IT...so here IT is!) i had some fans of the Vasquez3 blog (holla!) ask to see pictures of Jordan's game room and bedroom. Here are the pics of the game room. If the some of the colors and items in the room look familiar to you it's because i used a few things from my old preschool (i loved those stripes and colors and i am happy to use them in my home...ahhh memories). As you can see i painted HUGE obnoxious flowers on the back wall. trust me when i say the are huge. I don't know what got into to me but one day i just decided to change Jordan's playroom into a cooler preteen lounge. i knew i wanted bright colors and a tropical theme...so here you have the Aloha Lounge...tee hee. OH and YES those are flip flops nailed to the wall. anyway she loves this room and spends a good deal of time here entertaining friends, listening to her music, building puzzles (she is a huge puzzle fan), playing games, watching TV and movies (weekends only) and she even meets with her tutor Erynn here.

Jordan has offered many times that she would gladly give up the game room if we need it for a baby...but for now she really likes having this space that is all hers...

OMG HolleeAnn, this room is adorable. I like seeing a few things from your preschool too. Are you going to open another one someday? The one you had in Hollister was really nice and the world needs great places for kids. I really love this room! I think the flip flops on the wall are a fun idea, but I really love the flowers. CUTE room! Jordan is a lucky girl, not just because of the room either, cuz she has you for a mom.

Kari is right, Jordan is a lucky little girl to have you for a mom. I cannot believe you just grabbed a brush and started painting. Those flowers are awesome, especially when you consider you didn't even use a pattern or stencil. I cannot wait to see it in person and finally meet you.

thanks guys!! i really like the flowers too. i just started painting and that's what came out. i added all of the white AFTER to make it look stenciled. once i did that i think it took on a whole new life.

as for the preschool, i would love to open another one, if i had the right location. but i don't know if this area is ready for a super high quality preschool, what i have seen here so far is junk. but maybe one day...we will see.

I really like the flowers and the flip flops are a riot! You are such an outside of the box thinker, I love that about you.

Hollee. You need to go to the dollar store, get about 100 more pairs of those flip flops and then wallpaper an entire wall with them. Expensive, but its the type of thing you could submit to hgtv.com, Readymade, or some other website. The room looks awesome, and the stencil look of the flowers is great.

How rich is the dude that came up with that unicorn drawing poster? I swear every kid I grew up with had that somewhere in their house. I think the gallegos house had one in every room. I always wondered if the guy ever had one in his own pad. You know... hanging above the mantle, under glass, with a big ornate frame around it. Maybe some art lighting directed at it. I can see him at dinner parties, "Oh, that... I finished that one in 83, its a subtle commentary on the duality of man. Fantasy, you see, bleeds outward to mask what we ourselves wish not to see." "Oh, what would I change?... Well, I was never quite happy with the lime-green there about midway up the horn. Somewhere along the line, a bit of burnt sienna got on the crayon... and well... those sharpeners they give you never quite do what you would hope..."

Scott, you crack me up! Jordan is TOTALLY into the "velvet art" right now. she found a series of spiral books at Target that Rose Art makes and i can barely get through the store without her needing to "go check to see if there is a new one" she wants to "collect them all". i remember wanting one of the huge posters they had when i was a kid, but i cant remember if i ever got one. so even tho they are super tacky, i am all over getting them for J.

putting them underglass and hanging them over the mantle is not going to happen though. lol
